No, he was from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada serving with the Canadian army in WWI.

Eh?

Checked on his Wiki page and it states that he was born in Kilburn, educated in Cambridge and dies in Sussex.

Anyhoo, on to the WTP reference, at times Viduka looked like Pooh bear, overweight, lazy and ambling about looking for his next pot of honey. When he wasn't like that he was mustard.

I can see the similarities to Malcolm McDonald too. The big pluses appear that he seems brave and doesn't shirk away from being clattered by defenders and probably more importantly he seems to time his runs so well, it would make a welcome change for us to have someone who was not always off side.

Surely worth a punt at that sort of money.

I've decided by that 10 minute video that he looks like he could be worth a punt, so we may as well start working towards making this thread 100 pages

Yeah, your signature being King Gilly and recognising the MacDonald qualities make you an old timer like myself.

And I think if we can make it to 200 pages, Levy will feel the pressure to sign him.

At only 26 he could give us 4 good years provided he doesn't get injured.

Hopefully he makes the choice of Spurs on friday.

very interesting quotes from his father .. its in turkish btw lads and i will translate (not 100% accurate translation but close)

saying that many clubs want him and that spurs and arsenal are the clubs interest yilmaz the most and also mentioning that he prefers his son to play in the premierleague then the italian league (too slow) and said his son will reveal very soon where he will play (hazard part 2)

the more i think about this player the more i want him .. and i really think we might get him

Anyone else see this being Cavani/Kjaer part 2? Other than the club claiming we have bid, there doesn't seem to be a lot of other info supporting this. None of the ITK's, not even the crap one's who repost whatever they find on the internet, have mentioned him in the slightest (unless I just missed it of course). Sounds like we are just being used to up the price.

Arsenal were pretty strongly linked with him in January, but since then they've signed Podolski and Giroud so I really don't see that happening. Fulham were the other team strongly linked at that time. We were only linked from around March/April. It's so cheap for a guy who looks so suited to the Premiership and would take away a little bit of the fear that we'll only have Harry Kane in the squad next season.

Yea, him as the focal point freeing up room for a goal-scoring wide forward like Remy on his right would be amazing. If it's Remy, Vertoghen, and him, with only Modric out for another Real player, I think it'd be great window for us.

who creates chances for these forwards? parker and sandro??!!!!!!

we badly need to keep modric and on top of that bring alot more pace and creativity power and strength into side. that costs money.

Hopefully Sahin would be the the Real Madrid player coming in. Sahin, Remy, VDV, Bale, Lennon....sure all these chaps could create a chance or two.

I get a feeling we've missed a trick here.... time will tell of course but hard working, international class, physical no9's at 5 million don't grow on trees.
