Interesting. Would make sense.

Scary to see Arsenal with a new manager and potentially having financial backing from the board.

I mentioned this whisper of a rumour back in January and that it was growing louder, so there is probably some mileage in this.

It just doesn't seem very "Wenger like" to take a job like this. I could be wrong but I think this story came about largely to do with the fact he is very chummy with one of the PSG presidents as he does a lot of work with al Jezeerah. Or summin lik dat, innit

Is this for real? I'm actually quite happy with the job Wenger's been doing at Arsenal, I was hoping he'd be there another few years still.

You're happy that they finish above us every year?

It would be a scarey thought Wenger actually spending money, surely he should treat himself and go.

No, but it's at least giving us a chance to catch up with them. There was only a point in it last year, who knows this season? They're on the decline and he's at the centre of it.

I'd be worried about the pull they have for a new hungry manager... Klopp maybe?

Assnal spend fucking tons of money each and every season. They just don't spend it all that wisely at the mo. They should be a bit further ahead of us these last few seasons than they have been.

I hope to Christ they don't get a new guy in who knows what he's doing.

I think Wenger going would be good for us. I don't think Arsenal could attract many top class managers at the minute and I don't see another coming in and doing a Wenger and staying with them for so long.

Losing Wenger could be the tipping point that causes us to finally overtake them. Come on PSG, you know you want him :x

Every Arse fan I know thinks Wenger breaking his contract is out of the question, even those who want him gone.

My thoughts exactly.

As much as his latest teams haven't exactly inspired. He knows his team, he grinds results out and usually gets them where they need to be. Despite variations in quality here and there in the team, he is the one constant they've had all these years and they have performed consistently.

I do think a top level manager would go to them but my question would be, how many of them are there about?

Either way i think it would be a sideways or probably a backwards step for them to replace him. A new manager would have to work with the style he's built and the team he knows which means there would be changes (costing money) and a period of adjustment which i don't think they can afford.

As much as i dislike Wenger, he's taken a lot of flack for the tight purse strings at the scum. He's the person blamed by fans for the lack of quality regularly, not the board that won't back him or don't have the spare cash to back him.

This could be problematic IMO, any decent new guy at Arse such as Klopp or someone of similar reputation could really affect us with Mourinho possibly going to Chelsea. That's two teams who are likely to be in good shape next season then. Despite Liverpool failing in recent years too, if they manage to keep hold of the rodent and make more signings then they can always be dangerous. I predict it to be very difficult for us to compete next year. You've got the possibility of United; a more determined Citeh who'll probably spend more than they ever have; Mourinho at Chavs who'll get them organised; a new manager at Arsenal who is less reluctant to spend (or actually buys top players) and it's unlikely but you can't discount the bindippers with the money they can spend. This summer could be crucial for us, we can't afford to fart around and we must make the right signings.

Totally agree. I still don't understand how or why so many people believe this myth that they don't spend any money.

Even apart from the huge transfer fees they've paid out (which really haven't been covered by selling the odd Fabregas or RVP), their wage bill is absolutely astronomical - Wenger might get away with pretending he doesn't spend money on players but he really fucking loves paying people like Sebastian Squillaci £80k a week...

Indeed. I think Rosicky is on £90 odd K per week. Crazy. Goes some way to explain the extra £52m extra they spend per year on wages
