Alot of chat about CCV not being mobile enough to make it to the very top and play regularly for us, but would his build / stature not be similar to Toby's?

Imho, I really do not believe he is mobile, enough, and actually plays flat footed. His positional sense can be suspect. Reason he stood out in his development years, was his freak stature.

This is the exact reason why I'm not on the Griffiths hype train.Players like him and Onomah dominate U17,18 due to their physical strength but once the join the big leagues their flaws get exposed eaisly.

extending contract is not only about whether the player is in the plan or not, loaning him out (especially to PL clubs) would raise his price if he does well

I agree with many of you that CCV is well down the depth chart at CB.
If he was really in Poch's plan we wouldn't have never gone for Foyth in the first place.
Exactly, Foyth looks much more calm and composed with the ball at his feet than CCV does. The only edge that CCV has over Foyth currently is the number of matches played in the last season(and his size/stature). Furthermore, Foyth fits our style better than CCV as he is more comfortable with the ball at his feet and is a better passer. In all honesty, it will take a strong showing in the ICC for CCV to stake a place at CB in the first team.

On the other hand, I think next season could be a big year for Foyth. When Jan had to pull out of the Leicester match I really hoped they would put Foyth in and give him his PL debut. Hopefully he gets some opportunities in the PL next season.

CCV starting tonight for the US v. Ireland.

Yes. Again he has his USA CB partner (Miazga) on his left and Yedlin on his right. He should be very comfortable and there is no reason he should not have a good game. Too bad I can only watch the match on Spanish-language TV.

Looked really shaky and had a badly mistimed challenge for a yellow. Subbed off after 60 mins. I can't see him breaking into the squad anytime soon.

Has signed a new contract
and will probably go out on loan again.
Still a tendency to evaluate players
on one dodgy or the last performance
rather than the arc of their development and potential.
He's only 20 and playing in probably the most difficult position.
Bags of time to mature and develop further.

Penciled him in for my All Academy team for 2019/20.

Personally I see him as someone we'll hope to sell to a mid-table club for £15m or so rather than a potential starter for us. I really like him so I hope I'm wrong but he just doesn't seem to have the composure and technique we need in our defenders.

I watched the whole match, and CCV definitely did not have his finest performance in a USA shirt. I like CCV, I think he has all the tools to succeed, but for some reason has not put everything together yet. What stood out to me in the match against Ireland was that he seemed a second late to react to what was going on. The yellow card was a perfect example of that. Though, to be fair to him, the US keeper was absolutely atrocious throughout the match and there were several instances where communication broke down between the keeper and the two CBs that led to scoring chances for the opposition.

I agree with many of you that he may find it difficult to break into the first team.

I have watched him quite a bit albeit at youth level and he has some outstanding attributes. The boy has a lot to learn but I don't really see the rush to write him off. He has done well in Championship and international is a big step up for most players give the boy a chance

He’s played very well so far. Solid against a rampant France.

US have nothing going forward ?
