Any remember when The Mail tried to make out our reaction to Campbel was racist? I idolised Sol for many years and then he left for free to our fiercest rivals after saying he was going to sign.

I don't think he'd want to come back and we would hardly welcome him back with open arms.

the problem is why didnt levy sign distin or similar.. cos he's almost as much of a kerr as campbell!

Why?

You have no idea what Distin was demanding and what considerations the board took into account before not attempting to sign Distin.

I think the intern who wrote this one was on an exchange programme from the Dallas Herald

My heart and soul is here and I want to play for Spurs. I am going nowhere - for now - August 4, 2000.
I can assure everyone that I won't be signing for another club while I am still a Spurs player. I want to win the Premiership and I want success in Europe but, most of all, I want to believe I can achieve that here - December 3, 2000.
Being a Spurs fan as a boy and a player for so many years, it would be hard for me to sign for Arsenal. I don't think the fans here would ever forgive me - December 17, 2000.
I want to play for Tottenham, that's it really. I am going nowhere - January 1, 2001.
I'm happy here and willing to do business now. I'm not selfish, I'm looking at the current situation and want the club to do well - January 5, 2001.
It's the ambition of Spurs and where we are going that concerns me. I have the right to keep my options open. Nobody can blame me for wanting success and above all wanting it at Tottenham. But talk is cheap - March 11, 2001.
As long as the club is healthy and things are in place, then myself and other players will want to join Tottenham or continue with them. I want to stay at Tottenham - March 26, 2001.
There is still a lot of sorting out to be done but I am sure it will be resolved - April 1, 2001.
I will leave it as late as possible - but I am happy at the moment and that is the main thing - April 13, 2001.
Going abroad is not in my mind. the ball is in Spurs' court now. I am in no hurry because I want to look at the whole picture. We will just have to wait and see what happens in the next two or three weeks - May 21, 2001. Campbell then lit the blue touchpaper when he signed for Arsenal on a Bosman free on July 3, 2001.
wot more can be said

If he were to think for a nanosecond of going back to Spurs then he's even more stupid than I thought.

The guy called a national radio station a week or so ago to complain about the abuse spurs fans had given him, so i can hardly see him heading back to play for spurs in the January transfer window.

If we ignore for a moment the fact that we'd never even consider signing the judas **** anyway, we can also consider...

1) Pompey are about to lose half their squad to the African Nations. Why would they let one of their main players go?

2) We are pretty much direct rivals with Pompey this season so why would they let him come to us?

3) He is probably still on stupid wages that would make him the highest player at Spurs. Considering our reluctance to change our wage structure, and our even bigger reluctance to sign older players, do we really think this is likely?

So don't worry chaps I suspect that this might, just might, be absolute bollocks.

And then of course you have to refactor into the equation that he's a judas **** who we'd never sign anyway.

I rest my case.

I'm not quite sure what you mean?

The way I see it is that we signed Bent because we figured that both Defoe and Mido would be off. As it was JD decided to stay and Mido went for circa £6 million, fair to say JD would have gone for considerably more. 1 in 2 out, 1 player that can play with both Keane and Berbatov, net zero spend at worse and a wage reduction, makes sense to me.

Not quite sure what bent has to do with the board deciding not to go for Distin though.

Even if a labotomy could make me forget he played for us snd then what he did...as a Spurs fan there is something ingrained in me that would still know it would be massivly wrong and just not doable...

He was good against Arsenal. If he's playing like that, day in, day out. I'd approve the signing of him.

Just 'cos people cut & paste - It doesn't mean they believe the content.

I do it to draw attention for other users, like the current story about the new Fulham boss, perhaps I'd better not do it eh ?
