Can anybody who booed Adebayor explain why they booed him?

@The Long Suffering One - I was sat in 3rd row of the shelf and I heard a couple of boos behind me. The majority of boos came from Park lane. Is the wtf at me or the fact our fans did boo our player?

Adebayor was visibly fucked, not only do these people not understand the game but they are a bigger cancer to our club than he ever will be cos they, unfortunately will always be here.

Never been totally opposed people that boo a poor overall performance, but I've changed my tune. Singling one out, when we had at least 8 pathetic players tonight just shows that they hate the man regardless.

You'd think the fact he was still captain meant something, but the mentally retarded will still take the word of the mirror and Daily Fail.

They should all fuck off to Stratford FC.

As much I dislike Ade's attitude most of the time, poch needs to get him firing as he is not moving on unless another club comes in and pays his crazy wages. Therefore I see poch's thinking in trying to motivate him by making him captain. All us fans need to support the manager on this one or if not keep their opinion for forums like this and not spout their mouth off at the lane. Booing IS NOT helping our club in any way.

I used to do a football podcast a few years ago and, in it, created a monthly segment called 'Mick's Musings'.

Essentially it was just clips of Mick McCarthy talking, with the Hovis music in the background... :)

Anyway, here's what Mick had to say about booing your own players!

I wasn't at the game but it should be fairly obvious, he barely touched the ball or chased anything (as always) and is just back from disappearing for 2 months while being our highest paid player and vice captain. Obviously people are going to be annoyed by him.

Edit: Let me add, I don't support booing players or management at the games. doesn't help anyone and should be a last ditch measure.
I WAS at the game and that's bollocks.

Sounded like there was a lot of boos for him tonight, i was bang on the half way line and pretty much came from all over as far a I could tell although obviously not everyone. looked at the bloke next to me and we're both like "that was harsh..."

Can't see the point in it, but then I can't see the point in the mass groans when things don't come off and then we wonder why the players pass it sideways or backwards - bit of a vicious circle...

He was awful and didn't look like he was trying but I didn't boo him when he was subbed. I Felt like it but it's not going to help his team mates and I'm not going to let him drag them down to his level.

He was shit though. Think too many bridges have been burnt on both sides now to expect anything good to come from his employment with us now.

Probably best he fucks off.
No one boos soldado when he's shit.
There's no excuse for it, it's fickle and it makes us look ridiculous. Don't cheer by all means, but don't boo.

Pathetic if the case. It's out of hand now imo & it's beyond performance related it's something else all together

I think it's best on both sides that adebayor just leaves. Either this month or most likely summer.

I'm not his biggest fan but no way in a million years would I boo any player that plays for my team.

Such a shame tbh with you. I genuinely felt sorry for him. I'm the most critical spurs fan you will get but when I heard all those boos through my tv (was alot of boos aswell) I actually turned to my brother and said "that's so heartless man".

I can 100% understand anyone that moans about adebayor because he simply is not good enough for the team BUT booing is on another level.

Imagine what the other players think?

It would sure make them feel a bit pressured with their own performance and think how loyal some of our fans are.

Was at both games (I'm still on the bloody train home to Margate) and most of the boos seemed to come from the park lane area. I can't quite understand what it achieves. Surely they should've cheered when he went off.

It's a disgrace.
It reminds me of the shit Ghally got for throwing his shirt down. Fans never forgave him and that was it.
Robbie Keane did the same and no one batted an eyelid.

Lol.

Forum fans are the bestest fans in the whole wide world!

In answer to the original question. The reason they do it is because they hate/dislike the player so much that they express themselves vocally in the hope that the manager and owner fuck him off. Is simple really. They do not want him to wear the shirt.

How do you not understand that?

This is in the itk thread but worth posting here as it's relevant.

hertyid:
Ade was pretty upset after being jeered v Sunderland.
Poch has started him as captain so he can prove everyone wrong.
Seems to be when he is at his best, so fingers crossed we get a performance.

Obviously it backfired big time as he was even shitter tonight than against Sunderland. It's best for him if he moves on. Maybe he will go if it's made clear he's not wanted. Who knows?

I've always thought the ghaly thing was a joke. It's the same player who played on after losing three teeth a couple of months previously after getting kicked in the mouth by a Pompey defender. He obviously cared.

A few people behind me and around me booed, I asked them how does that help. The response was that he was shit.

If that was the benchmark quite a few should've been booed tonight, including Poch.

Anyway, we won, clean sheet so no away goals. Banana on the shelf chant one of the few highlights.
