Can anybody who booed Adebayor explain why they booed him?

They booed Adebayor and then cheered Soldado coming on? That's utterly laughable.
In keeping with my one rule for one, one rule for others feeling though.

Some Spurs fans genuinely don't deserve to see success.

Just going to give them all an excuse to complain about the atmosphere again.

Hardly the foundations of a real fortress....

I was in Paxton Rd end and there were more people complaining about the booing than the booing itself, very few seemed t be booing round there.

There wasn't really a cheer for Soldado. Maybe a clap, but that's it. I don't think there was much enthusiasm for him either.

Adebayor was booed because of his attitude and what he is as a footballer. Soldado isn't like him from what I've seen.

I was only watching on the box, but there was a definite cheer for Soldado when he came on...

There were a fair few boo's in the North Upper. A small collection of the same 5/6 people kept booing him whenever he touched the ball, one even sang the song we used to sing when he was at Arsenal.

I dislike him as much as the next guy but it's disgraceful. You don't have to like him, you don't have to buy a shirt with his name on the back but as long as he's playing for us we should never boo him.

This is in the itk thread but worth posting here as it's relevant.

hertyid:
Ade was pretty upset after being jeered v Sunderland.
Poch has started him as captain so he can prove everyone wrong.
Seems to be when he is at his best, so fingers crossed we get a performance.

Obviously it backfired big time as he was even shitter tonight than against Sunderland. It's best for him if he moves on. Maybe he will go if it's made clear he's not wanted. Who knows?

Making him vice captain at the start of the season didn't work and he didn't prove anyone wrong. Quite what anyone expected from him being made captain tonight I don't know.

A few people behind me and around me booed, I asked them how does that help. The response was that he was shit.

If that was the benchmark quite a few should've been booed tonight, including Poch.

Anyway, we won, clean sheet so no away goals. Banana on the shelf chant one of the few highlights.

Reeeeeeeeeeally? I mean, I know we live in an age where every fault in every game can be traced back to being the manager's fault, but he rotated, put out 11 very good players, made the subs most of us would probably have made, and they still couldn't break down a league one team. At one point do we say maybe the manager's not to blame on this occasion..?

Whole team was poor tonight, I don't think Adebayor was any worse that he deserved the brunt of the boos though. I don't see how this situation gets better though...

Can someone please please please find the stats of distance covered on average per match for Ade, Soldado and the rest of the team. Only then will anyone convince me that Soldado puts in any more of a shift than Ade.

Ade's attitude is shit. If he didnt have such a shit attitude, no one would boo him. Facts only.

Anyway, im past the booing now. I just wanna know why the Ade apologists always constantly bring up Soldado and shit on him in every thread about Ade? For fucks sake, leave the guy alone. We get it, you hate him. He is your punching bag. Bringing Bobby up ever time in an Ade discussion is preposterous and tired. Get a new argument. Please. Keep things fresh. Otherwise, it just gets stale and boring.

One more thing, its past the point of return now. It is best for him, the club, the squad and the fans that he moves on now. Get him out now. We'd be better off for it this season.

In answer to the original question. The reason they do it is because they hate/dislike the player so much that they express themselves vocally in the hope that the manager and owner fuck him off. Is simple really. They do not want him to wear the shirt.

How do you not understand that?

Okay.
Why is he booed when it has been scientifically proven, and explained on here and to the World at large billions of times so that a one legged broad-bean that was dropped on its head would get it, that booing has a detrimental effect on the team? Is verbally expressing that dislike during match-time really so much more important that the morale and performance of the team? Couldn't they leave it at the turnstiles? It hurts the team and it hurts the club. Ultimately, if that is going to hurt not only themselves, presuming they actually care about the club at all, but it is also going to hurt the vast majority of fans who don't boo because, no matter how they feel about him, they understand that it is counterproductive.
Also, do they really want him out that much that they are happy to see him forced out at loss even though they know (or do they?) that the good financial health the club is now in is a fine balancing act? I mean, before the club nearly went under due to horrible financial mismanagement at the start of the nineties this was one of the top top clubs, properly, in the country - only Liverpool boasted a trophy haul that put ours in the shade. Is forcing the club to lose money (if on this then on how many other things) really such an insignificant thing that some supporters just have to constantly vocalise their negativity and hate even though it has been shown to have a detrimental effect?

@whoever is saying he did nothing: He did take the ball down rather well and have a pop at goal. It was off target, though it did look to me that the United defender did really well and if he didn't get a foot to the ball (Ade thought he had) he was close enough that it would probably have pressured almost any striker into the miss. This is after missing so many games. I also have a distinct memory of him going to the half-way line, taking on 4 (FOUR) United players and coming away with the ball - did anyone else see this or am I hallucinating (again). He wasn't great, but he has almost not played for a while after having a near mental break-down not long after recovering from malaria. Have a heart (and a bit of sense) FFS.

Anyway, the general opinion seems like he won't go this window. Therefore we are not likely to get a replacement in to help Kane (and be bluddy well needs it with Poor Bobby his only other back-up). It is just fooking common sense in that situation to use Adebayor as well. He may not be well liked, even by those trying to defend him, he may be one fish and one loaf short of a feeding of the 5000, but come on chaps (and chapesses), he is also the player who could run from his own half right through the Chelsea team and curl one in the top corner just because he felt like it. Adebayor on his game is an absolute monster - surely a team chasing three trophies and a top four spot could do with that confident and on top form. That really is not rocket science...FFS.

How is "Ade's attitude is shit" a fact? It's a fact according to...?

The reason Soldado gets brought up in the argument so often is because you all love him, for his goals?

Bollocks. We played much better when the idiot went off. How was that detremential to the team? Besides which he was booed by us when he went off. Plus if this is the case when we play the scum and boo them why do they play so well against us? Or are you saying he was shit because the United fans booed him? It's all very confusing.

I personally think that the other players get a kick out of it because they can't stand him either.

I understand the basic concept of booing. We all have our opinions, but I want to know why people have only now started booing him. It never happened before he recently went away.
