Can you remember a team like the class of 2011 / 12

Which is why, when the question comes up of having one player from the past in the modern team, or, at least, squad, I go for Clive.

Oh yes. My god the mind boggles at the thought of Clive up top in this current team.

Yes, but I'm 61 this month and so remember, albeit hazily, the Double Side. Is the current one better than '87? Tricky… It will last longer, though.

This team is the best I've seen by a million, million miles - my first game was in 93/94 so it's not up against much stiff competition however.

I just hope they collect a few pots and pans along the way, I don't want to look back and think 'if only'.

Er was I putting a team sheet together? I am talking about all of our class players that make up our team. Not all will play but we have real quality that is passing teams to death. another 68% possession today.
I read your posts mate and to be honest you are like a real bus conductor - redundant

The team that won the FA cup in 1967 is worthy of mention. After losing 1-0 at Old Trafford halfway through January we went through the rest of the 24 match campaign unbeaten, winning 17 and drawing 7 (and, of course, winning the FA cup in the process).

The run continued into the start of the '67/'68 season when we won 4 matches and drew 1 before crashing 5-1 at Burnley.

Of course football isn't all about statistics, but fair do's - not even the 'Double' team matched a sequence of 29 league and cup matches unbeaten.

I was really fond of that team as it marked my passage to travelling away as well as at home and probably saw all bar about 4 of those games - the 5-1 at Burnley came as a bit of a shock I can tell you!

I missed the team of the 60's but do remember a short trophy binge in the early 70's. The early 80's team was great to watch and could have achieved so much more than they did. The 87 team was exceptional and should have delivered at least one of the three trophies we were challenging for. And let's not forget that in 85 we were on the cusp of a serious title challenge til very near the end of the season and in typical spurs fashion we faded.

This team though is probably the most exciting i have seen. Long may it continue.

Lineker was better. Allen missed plenty of chances in 86-87 - Lineker would have scored 80.

Yeah, but no-one has said Lineker wasn't better...just that in our opinion Clive Allen would be better suited to playing in the present set-up.
