I think our days of buying 28 year old strikers from Spain are pretty much over to be honest. I'm a Soldado fan but I don't think anyone can claim that the deal for him has worked out, and I fully expect us to return to the old model of buying young (and more often than not cheap).

How much would we get for Bobby on the open market though? 10-15m if we're lucky, so when you look at it like that a swap for Bacca would be a good peice of business.

We screwed them on Ramos

We screwed them on Zokora

We screwed them on Dos Santos

We screwed them on Fazio

Dos Santos never had anything to do with Sevilla?

We sold them Zokora, so not sure on the issue.

As for Ramos, did them a favour!

Soldado will thrive at Sevilla and Bacca is much more suited to the Prem than Bobby, probably a decent move for both sides if they want to get rid.

Noone is going to swap us their 22 year old talent for a misfiring Soldado though. This is making the best of a bad situation. Worth noting that all of the top 4 have strikers at or over 28 years of age, so it's not exactly geriatric (Drogba, Van Persie, Falcao, Rooney, Pelle, Dzeko).

I heard after the Ramos debacle they really wanted very little to do with us and we totally pissed them off with the Fazio deal.

So I can't see them being willing negotiators unless they really think they're getting by far the better end of the deal here with Soldado.

Haven't we also been linked to their DoF?

Levy trying to get the best possible deal? He's a businessman, who owns a large chunk of his own business. Why would he do it any other way?

Ruthless, but thats why he's successful

True, and I'm not at all one who has anything against Levy. However, no matter how successful he is off the pitch, it's now way past the time where he needs to start realising that it's not all about how much money he can get for our unwanted players, but also about injecting the necessary funds to achieve success on the pitch. If he'd finally realise this, he'd ultimately find that he's bringing more money than ever into the club, via CL qualification/participation, and the marketing possibilities associated with such success.

I've defended Mr Levy for years, we are unrecognisable from the club which he/ENIC purchased, but it's ultimately down to what is achieved on the pitch, and this is where we have been let down. Hopefully times are changing, but I've learned it'd be stupid to hold ones breath in anticipation of said changes.

There is no chance they will do business with us.

Wouldn't be the right fit anyway.
