Carlton Cole?

I have seen a few threads asking where we can get pace and power up front, my answer is Carlton Cole. He is in the England squad, caused us many problems this season at Upton park, and got rave reviews last weekend. The other plus is, West Ham have financial problems, so a good offer, say 12-15 million would probably get the man. We can sell Pav, and HOPEFULLY Keane, which would more than recover the transfer fee.

The boy is young, gifted and black. Pace, power, good in the air and on the deck, at 26 he has many good years ahead of him. I could see Cole and Defoe forming a formidable partnership, for Spurs and England. He is on my New Year wish list, do you agree?

he is having a great season but not good enough. Could easily slip back to his old ways. Id be surprised if he keeps his form up for another 2 years at least.

I'm not sure we'll end the season with 4 strikers tbh. We should be alright with Keane, Defoe and Crouch if Pav leaves in Jan. If we're in Europe next season then we'll need 4 strikers. But for now, i think we're fine with the strikers we have. If we do go for another striker in January, then it would have to be a goalscorer like Huntelaar. Cole doesn't score enough goals, and we already have Keane and Crouch who can do what he does (minus the pace). But without Defoe in the last 3 games, we've struggled to score goals. So if anything we need another goalscorer.

I'm not going to jump on the 'Cole' bandwagon just after he has scored a couple of goals this season, I don't think he is even that good.

He stands out at West Ham as they are absolutely shite.

Won't happen - couple of reasons;

WH will not sell him, in fact they need another striker, so he won't go!
IF, Pav go's do we need another striker, hasn't worked with 4 really!
Harry is looking at the Chinese lad, maybe this is cover for Pav?
He is to similar to DB (better hold up, but similar) so why get another DB

Bottom line is, even if Pav goes, we have more than enough cover for that type of player - In my mind, it is in cover for Defoe we are lacking (unless Harry changes he's mind about GIO, or the Chinese lad works out?)

I'm sure he said he wont go anywhere until after the world cup anyway. He doesn't want to risk not getting regular first team football before the world cup next summer. It makes sense. He wouldn't be a certain starter with Spurs.

Defoe is our number 1 striker and I dont think he and Defoe would work all that well to be honest. I'd rather someone a bit more creative who likes to drop off like a Sheringham or Berbatov type.

Isn't that supposed to be Pav, or Crouch or Keane?

on current form, i'd take him over Pav. Just think Cole is more suited to the prem.

Swap deal?

I have no doubt that the same people prasing COle and suggesting we sign him would be the people labelling him as useless the first time he had back to back games without scoring.

Or should I say we all would be on his back as soon as he looked anything less than a world beater in our shirt and ultimately he would not succeed at our club and have to be moved on after a season or so where he could go back 'to his level' and carry on doing the type of job he does currently for West Ham for which if club we would sell him to (for a slight loss of course)

That is correct he turned up for a medical slightly the worse for wear and we pulled the plug on the deal.
