Cesc got the hump after Arsenal chairman says he wouldn't get into Barca first team

Apparently, Peter Hill-Wood said that he wasn't sure Fabregas would even make it into Barcelona's first team.

Personally, although I'm sure Arsenal fans would disagree, I think this is a fair point. In Xavi and Iniesta, Barcelona already have two of the best midfielders in the world. Fabregas would mean decent rotation of the first team, but he wouldn't necessarily be in the strongest 11.

Full story over at The Mirror.

I said that he wouldn't be happy about this to my Dad the other day, was really bad media management by Hill-Wood. He may have a point, but it's bad bad politics.

Yeah I read that on BBC the other day and didn't think Fibreglass would be happy about it. Way to try and push your captain out of the door Hill-Wood you muppet

He's right, Fabregas might not get into their first choice midfield, but Pep is forever using the squad in games in the league and he can learn and develop from Xavi, who is now 30.

fabregas at the moment cannot because iniesta busquets are both very very good. But if barca were to try and win everything again they would need fabregas

Didn't realise Xavi was 30. Fabregas would be an excellent purchase, then, learning from the master with a view to filling his boots.

Keita has played a lot this season as Iniesta has been injured and plays in the front 3 sometimes. Cesc would definitely get in the team, wouldn't start every match but as mentioned Guardiola rotates a lot. Plus Barca always have a lot of games, they've played youngsters like Jeffren, Thiago and JDS in midfield on a few occasions so I'm sure Cesc would get plenty game time and would eventually take over from Xavi.

Sergio Biscuits showed against the Woolwich that, whilst he might be behind Iniesta and Xavi in the pecking order, he's certainly no slouch - he links up superbly with Pedro and appears to be one of the only players who's really on the same page as Abidal when playing one-twos. In a side with so much individual skill you need a team player like him to stop it turning into the football equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Fiberglass is indeed amongst the top midfielders in the game but, when you're eyeing up squad lists, you can't really get much better than Xavi/Iniesta, can you?

Wonder if it's Hill-Wood trying to destabalise Arsenal with rumours of a takeover there? I know he's an Arsenal fan and this is "out there" but could he be trying to undermine the next regime's chances of success by unsettling their one truly world class player?

If Barca make an official move, he will join them no doubt. Who would turn down a move to the best team in the world? He'll get plenty of action for sure, plus Iniesta can play anywhere across the midfield anyway. I don't think they need Fabregas, but they want him. It's just a case of when.

Wenger pipes in with 'I don't know who would want to move to Spain'.

Hmmm, even his reasoning was shit. Something about there only being 2 good teams in Spain. Sure cos most footballers don't want to move to teams where they have a chance of winning everything.

I watched Real Madrid against Almeria [on Thursday] and turned off after 30 minutes – it was unwatchable," he said. "I can't see anyone who has a competitive edge going to Spain. They have two good teams but the third team is 21 points behind and this week the players threatened to go on strike because they are not paid. It's a league that is in complete disarray. If you are competitive you stay in England, that's where the competition is and that's where the best players want to be."

It's pretty obvious that the very best players want to play in La Liga, if Barca or Real come calling then that is going to be the pinnacle of any players career. Ronaldo was winning everything at Man Yoo, but Real was his dream. If Barca really want Cesc then I think he will go, it's his club and they are the best team in the world atm that play football the way it should be played but also win trophies.

If Barca bought Fabregas they would have the most scary midfield - Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas - I don't think anyone would get the ball off them.

One of the Sunday papers (NOTW I think) are running a story in which they claim Cesc has pledged not to leave in the summer and stay with Arsenal for the forseeable future.

I didn't read it - I never buy that kind of filth - but on Sunday Supplement they mentioned something about that story, saying it was Song who was speaking on behalf of Fibreglass.

Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin has admitted that he would love to play for Barcelona.

The Russian was so impressed by the Catalan giants following the Gunners' Champions League exit at the hands of Pep Guardiola's men that he believes just playing for them would represent a massive achievement for any player.

"If I played just a year in Barcelona it would be the pinnacle of my career," said the 28-year-old, according to The Daily Mail.

"Barca are the best team in the world and I enjoy their style of play so much. But after watching them against Arsenal the enjoyment has quickly turned into sorrow.

"Barca, is seems to me, are now so far ahead of any other club."
