For me it is because they had better attacking options than we did on the pitch. We were so poor in the 2nd half, could barely string passes together.

mate attack is not where they are better its the midfield and wide options - their midfield is top quality and keeps the ball for fun and out wide when attacking they have much better options - up front we can at least match them - our players all did ok but they have extra quality in areas which we don't at the moment

We've now been totally outplayed 4 games to zero against this lot. And I do hate Chelsea. If this was any normally run business, and the CEO had been totally outperformed by a rival CEO lets say 4 quarters in a row, that CEO would be done, dusted, shown the door. I hope I am alive to see the end of ENIC and LEvy.

Nope. They’ve had a consistently better selection of players. It’s no surprise really.
The last 3 games Chelsea played before this afternoon were Brighton, Wolves, and Leeds. They only took 2 points out of the possible 9. Chelsea had by far better selections than all those clubs, who, even their most die-hard fans will agree, are, in various degree, less talented than our squad. Yet, they did not have the beaten postures we displayed over our last three games with Chelsea. We need to strength our mentality.

For our CEO, unlike those of Chelsea and Man City, financial health of the club is paramount. While honours are desirable, money always come first. Chelsea and Man City don't care because their owners have more money than they know what to do with. So they splash it on their clubs. (And now Newcastle too.) Pity the Premiere League and FIFA are greedy lots who side with the money boys. Hence Financial FairPlay is not worth the paper it is written on.

Whilst alot of that is true especially when you watch the Brighton games, Brighton could have easily won both. That also frustrating as Spurs fan to watch how well Brighton played against them while we have been completing white washed in 3 games. However Chelski definitely lift their game against us, unfortunately we didn't match their desire and we certainly can't match them on quality.

Now things are a bit calmer, does anyone understand what Conte, a great manager, was doing?
Why he got it so wrong with his selection, his persistence with Tanganga and the timing of his subs.
Maybe Chelsea win anyway, but how can such a great manager get a game so wrong. I'm genuinely baffled..
Do I need to worry or next game will we see normality return with 3 ATB but Tanganga and Sess not in the team. And yes they're both good lads, but football wise they are not what's needed to challenge for top 4 and a trophy

This game just further reinforced my hatred for that club from top to bottom, from inside to out they are detestable. From the racist, xenophobic, knuckle-dragging fan base, to the whinging, whining, diving, cheating players to their utterly corrupt, morally reprehensible owner bankrolling the club with the billions he made off of the backs of his own people. I’m sure even kit man is a prick and the tea lady votes UKIP

As for us, nothing we don’t already know - we need reinforcements all over the pitch and we need them sooner than later

The first half was ok but Conte should have taken Tanganga (yellow card)and Sessegnon off at half time.
He did not and the second half was a disaster.

Paul oKeffe has eluded to it was purely down to players that were fit. Emerson, Reggy, Lucas not fit enough to start.

Again Chelsea get the upper hand, its becoming a right pain in the you know what.
Few things are fairly obvious from games like this:
1. Ben Davies is finished as a left back, he does not have the pace to play there. At left side of centre half in a back three he looks a different animal, but at left back he looks exposed time after time.
2. We need players who have composure with the ball at their feet. Every time we got the ball under pressure we panicked and either hoofed it long, kicked it out of play or gave up possession. Our midfield and defence in particular struggled with this element of play today. That was the beauty of a player like Dembele, he could take the ball out, display strength in keeping it and was so difficult to dispossess, giving everyone around him time and space at the same time.
3. Sanchez might look ok in a back 3, but in a two he looks like a rabbit in headlights, he is so bad with the ball at his feet and other teams know this. Sessengnon was no better today, gave the ball away constantly and not sure if either will ever be good enough for a team that wants to compete for top prizes.
4. Our mentality is so weak, esp against Chelsea, it has to be a factor in bringing in new players. We give away silly frees, needless corners, inviting pressure and when we need players to take a chance and try make that forward killer pass too many of our lot are content to go backways or sideways and take the safe option.
5. Tanganga needs a loan at the very least, reminds me of Carter vickers, decent centre half in a lower league, but appears nowhere near ready for this level.
6. Writing on the wall for likes of Ali and Lo Celso, not even in the squad today and one making tik toks shows where priorities lie.

Hopefully we get a few in before the window closes, because today showed again that it is major surgery the squad needs not just tinkering around the edges and the more we can get in now the less work needed in the summer.

Yea unfortunately Tangana has been so poor in those 3 Chelsea games, nowere near the level when he first came into team or even at start of this season.

Thanks for info, I haven't had the stomach to go to News now etc or return to this thread till now
So what about Skipp, I know he didn't train, so presumably couldn't start either
I mean 3 5 2 with Skipp playing is so good for us
Anyway, I have some hope thanks to that info, but please please please Antonio, no more Tanganga or Sess
My wife's already said she's refusing to watch the next game if Tanganga starts, and I don't blame her
It's nothing personal with either of us, we both love to see Academy players coming through, but she can't take the situation anymire
I'm much more addicted, so I'll start watching v Brighton, but the remote will be close to hand and hovering over the off button if I see another shambles of a team starting the game

Yea I know what you mean, but part of me thinks that he will come good and unfortunately the team suffers but will come through and have the player we all thought he would become. Conte must see something when he still playing him.

Well I've never been sure what player Tanganga will become, yes there is promise there and some good attributes
Maybe go on loan somewhere I don't know. But Conte, a great manager, obviously rates him, so I feel ridiculous challenging his opinion
But what can I do as a mug punter, but just give my view and try to find out what I, and others, are missing
It's going to be a long wait till Brighton, I don't want to give up on the season yet, and just hope the team looks very different to yesterday's

So glad I had a 3.5 hour pre match session in the White Horse, Parsons Green as at least that was good. I was also able to sit down in the front row upper tier as per normal. First half we were at least competent but second half was like the first half in the League Cup. As soon as the 2nd goal went in I was just waiting for the final whistle as the game was over.

I'm really fed up of just treading water which is all we'll ever do under these owners. I haven't looked at the League table once this season and I have no real interest in doing so either when this is just another transitional season.

I don’t think that proves much beyond the fact that there are no guarantees in football. Sometimes the “better“ team doesn’t win.

With Son and Romero out, I don't think anyone expected us to get points out of this.

The Kane disallowed goal was frustrating, but they dominated the midfield and our wing backs didn't do much.

I don't think at this point there is much sense being too down, as we are not on their level yet. City, Chelsea and Liverpool are a step above the rest of the league. What is important is we bounce back. We have some tough, but winnable games ahead. If son and Romero are back too, that will give us a stronger line up than yesterday.

I feel its all down to Chelsea and their mindset going into these games. City want to win every game they play-score as many gaols as they can, against any team. Chelsea can't be bothered and only want to do what they need to do and thats not enough against a rampant mid table side. Against us, they lift their game as they do against any top side or any team that threatens. We should be proud that they treat us with such respect and not complain about it. We will have our day sooner rather Han later.

Of the club?…. Or of himself and his paymaster?

As for FFP…. The problem isn’t necessarily that other clubs don’t stick to it, the problem is that our club has got nowhere near to its limits, operating WELL inside it.
