I loved they did that, particularly Eriksen as you can understand Lamela's immediate frustration but Eriksen recognised the wider significance even though we had just scored.
I think Eriksen quietly is assuming a bigger leadership role in the squad. I saw him pull Lucas aside after a goal to do something similar - even though we had just scored, Eriksen was explaining what he wanted from Lucas on the outside.

Ricky Tweet:

Since losing to Manchester City back in December, Spurs have taken 33 points out of a possible 39 available to them. That includes 10 points from a possible 12 also against teams from the top six, do not let anyone tell you Pochettino does not learn from defeats

Henry's blatant abuse of Just For Men was very troubling.

I mean, look at that ffs.

Loved seeing Defoe do some punditry on us, though.

Yes, I also thought his beard looked very black! I can't use the stuff anymore, because I had an allergic reaction to it.
The other thing about Henry is that he says illogical stuff. He pointed to the third goal to illustrate Alli's readiness as opposed to Lamela hanging back. What was Lamela supposed to do, run into Alli? He was waiting in the ideal position for a cut back, but Alli went for the ball as he was nearest.

Did you see the post-match interview involving Redknapp Jr, Eriksen and Delete? Eriksen looked really pissed off when Redknapp asked if they were going to show their special handshake after Dele handed him the MOTM award. Eriksen said no quite brusquely and then walked off. Now I get why that happened: Redknapp had been slagging off Dele all week.
got a link ?

Yeah I think they (or Henry rather) over-analysed that to be honest. Alli did well to be ready and active in the box but Lamela was also right to hang back too. Only person who should be blamed in that is Son. What's Lamela supposed to do, run towards the goal and away from the area that the ball should have been played into? Not at all. It's really not too dissimilar to telling someone who's waiting for a tap in to run around instead.

To be honest Henry is rather annoying to listen to on Sky, says either (as you say) illogical things or the most obvious things but in a way that is as if he's saying something extremely insightful or clever. Plus he always makes sure he gets in the whole 'we have to win titles, Kane needs to win titles' every time he talks about us.
It's why I love listening to Gary Neville regarding us, or even Craig Bellamy for that matter. They know that we probably do need to win things but they also clearly remembers where we were as a team and prefer to focus on the fact that we've drastically improved, are heading in the right direction and on how good a job Pochettino is doing, even if he hasn't won anything yet. Most pundits love to focus on the one negative regarding us instead of the many positives.

One by one all of the "it's been's" have been knocked off, "it's been" X years since Spurs won at Arsenal gone, it's been X years since Spurs won at old Trafford gone, its been 28 years since Spurs won at Stamford Bridge gone! They've moved onto the "only's" now, Spurs have only won this or that many times here or there but it is all getting a bit thin for the headline writers and especially sky.
There are none left now they've all gone and that is the importance of this result.
No they have not! If we dont win the FA cup this season, you are going to hear the "What has this Spurs team won?" chant being amplified

That's a very well-written post.

I thought we played well, but we were gifted a few moments where Chelsea were definitely on the front foot and missed some very good chances. Alonso was the primary source of these.

I do think having a 100% Kane changes the entire dynamic though. It seems we've gone through this before where Son is in great form, he has to step in for Kane, and we all remember why he can not lead the line.
I think it was as much about missing Son's wide play as it was about bad hold up play. We wete too narrow in the first half.

I am so bloody tired of hearing commentators talking about Dele having a "poor" season - even before today, he has been producing this season..its just a lazy diatribe.
Was just listening to the latest Football Ramble podcast episode and I was pleased to hear Luke talk about this and pipe up that Alli has actually been playing quite well and the media has got it wrong and are just going off of goal scoring stats.

It's funny (and very sad) that they are meant to be a bit of a tongue in cheek and not so serious look at the Premier League and some of world football yet the rest of the media is so poor that they're often the best source of football information and analysis.

He obviously has a bigger role now than when he arrived, but he has always been like that. He did the same thing way back when he was a youth player for OB and Ajax. It makes sense since he is a playmaker, telling players where he wants the ball and where they need to run. He also often points towards where the ball can be played when other Spurs players have the ball.

Also much weirder, because he comes off as someone who is a bit reserved/quiet(also because he talks in that monotone voice), but he is often the one who talks to the ref when the ref needs a talking to. Like against Liverpool at Anfield when Moss had to decide if it was a penalty or not. It was Eriksen and Can who talked to the refs. Can was Liverpools captain so it made sense he talked for Liverpool. But i dunno why Eriksen does it for us. Maybe his monotone voice is tricking the refs to give us the calls!

Wonder if Dele could play false 9, with Eriksen, Lamela and Son behind.

Theres still 50 odd goals a season there amongst the 4 of them.
