As long as they don't come after our players, driftwood and surplus guff excepted, I could not give one jot of a fuck what the Chinese do with their league. It'll be shit. MLS is still pretty pony (and completely tacky) and that's been going for a while now. Maybe in 10 years time it might be one of the best leagues going. But who cares. It's not it's going to affect European football in any way other than with wages. And that bubble'll burst.

What prestige in world football history could a Chinese league ever hope to attain?
A fucking Pan-Asia trophy? A Pacific Ocean cup with the MLS? It's shite.

Who cares if mercenary arseholes go over there to ply their trade. If that's the level of their ambition, achievement wise, then it's laughable.

The wheels will come off the cart. It's unsustainable at its current level. Let alone when we see the first £1m a week player. Fuck knows who it'll be though...

Tevez lands in Shanghai later, with his entourage/family totalling 19 people. Expect crazy fan scenes.

Shanghai Shenhua with Tevez and Martins and Poyet managing them are currently losing at home to... Brisbane Roar, managed by John Aloisi with players I don't even know the names of and I live in the city.

1-0, goal scored after less than 2 mins. We're about half an hour in.

Finished 2-0. Shenhua out. Brisbane through. They missed some real sitters.. Martins mostly. A yard out, wide. A yard out, tipped onto the post by the keeper. Even when they shot after the whistle and there was an empty net, it bounced over..

Two Aussie players have quit the Chinese league after not being paid for 4 months!

'The Herald Sun understands that neither player has been paid a cent, four months on from signing with Liaoning Whowin.
It’s believed that (Robbie, ex Leverkusen) Kruse is owed around $1 million, while (James, ex Duisberg) Holland is owed just under half that figure.'

It's been referred to the PFA and FIFA:

'“The players had placed the club on notice to remedy the situation, however the club has failed to do this. As a result, both players have terminated their respective contracts for just cause, in accordance with FIFA regulations,” PFA chief executive John Didulica said.

“As a consequence, they are now free agents and entitled to sign with clubs of their choosing.

“The PFA has provided ongoing support to James and Robbie following the club’s repeated failure to honour its contractual obligations to the players.’’'

Also seems it's not the first incident..

'Many Australian players have had wage disputes in China, and Liaoning. It’s believed that Socceroos-capped trio James Troisi, Michael Thwaite and Dario Vidosic were all owed money by Liaoning before settling.

Thwaite, who was uncontracted for three months before this week signing for Western Sydney, and Vidosic only settled in February, two months after finishing their season.'

Chinese FA have introduced a 100% tax on any foreign player signing, effectively ruling out potential big money moves for Diego Costa etc.
The tax will be implemented against any loss-making club, and funnily enough, every single team is making a loss, so this does hit every club.
The idea is that it will fund the development and progression of Chinese players.

What a waste?
We should have sold Sissoko to the Chinese league before that new ruling came into effect. :sneaky:
