Poch's teams require the entire front 3 banks to press and to a point, make tactical fouls in the opposition half to stop them from getting any sort of rhythm.
We do not disagree. But "pressing" as used by Pocehttino and "pressing" as determine by a bystander watching on the telly or form the stands are different things. Actual pressing is as much about populating the field with the right players in the correct positions, and keeping the team balance correct, as it is about visibly chasing the opponent. Hence, a player can, ironically, be "pressing" most effectively even if you don't see it by looking at him in a split second.

Still young, knits things together, can take a mean free kick, doesn't hide when things aren't going his way, scores goals and runs his ass off (contrary to popular belief). I know it's all about opinions but I said it earlier and I'll say it again, he's the type of player that you think you won't miss until he's gone.

Eriksen played well today and some breaks on the goals will help his confidence.

I'm amazed that some reckon Lamela to be a better and more influential player.

Anyone that thinks Lamela is more influential than Eriksen don't really know anything about football

I know he's a Christian but his faith should never guarantee him an automatic spot in the team. I thought he was quite poor today, gave the ball away loads and probably got a good kich up the anus from poch before coming to life in the 2nd half.

Said it for last few months but I would genuinely be looking to upgrade Eriksen.

When he isn't scoring aside from some neat little 10 yard passes, he's a liability to the team IMO, his lack of bottle is shameful at times.

With CL football, we can afford someone who is more physical and will buy properly into the philosophy,

I'll take the hit.

He is flimsy and especially in the second half of the season, a purely luxury player, doesn't deliver when needed 9/10.

When the going gets tough he shrivels away and unless he can sort out his mentality, I would advocate dropping him for someone more suited to the role in the AM3

Don't give a fuck if I sound like a broken record. We will never get to the next level with players like Eriksen. He's a complete journeyman. He likes it when things are going well but does not possess the attitude of the type of player we need to drag the game by the scruff of the neck. His set pieces have been woeful for months and don't even get me started on that flick of the toe for the penalty that wasn't today (or their first goal). Yes, I can see what he adds to the team which is all well and good away at Stoke when we're just battering them but we need to upgrade for the CL. There's a reason why he's been at Spurs 3 years and has attracted little to no interest from bigger clubs. When you compare Eriksen and VDV (of a few years ago) they are both classy players in their own right but I certainly know which one I would want in the dressing room pushing us forward for glory.

I like Eriksen think on his day he can be the difference and has an abundance of quality. No reason we cant keep him and bring some one to keep him on his toes. Much in the same way with Dembele...some time back the fans were desparate to get rid of Dembele and now hes the Spurs golden boy.

I suppose youre only as good as your last performance. So in that case we Need to sell a few others too, including Lloris.

Bad patches of form adise hes been a strong factor in us achieving 3rd. Certainly more so than Son, for example.

Yes because all the criticism of Eriksen has been solely on what he's done in the last few games

Poor overly defensive response as expected.

I never said it was hence why i said over the course of the season he has contributed to us achieving third. And more so than son. I also highlighted the poor form of dembele previously and also highlighted patches of poor form for eriksen. I also agreed it would be useful to bring someone in to keep him on his toes. So you could argue i was agreeing with you to some extent but trying to dilute it with some sense..if upgrade means sell that is.

he really needs to turn up, more, in big games especially and be the key to unlock games... that's all I ever asked of him...

Maybe. I cant remember what he was like in those games...maybe can see how he was rated. I think he needs to take control more and belive in his ability. I still think he looks and acts too shy. Im still annoyed he didnt take the freekick against southampton when lamela did.

100%

It's a shame we can't combine Eriksen's ability and Lamela's attitude.
To be honest, as much as I like both, I believe we can upgrade on them. Crazy as that might sound to some.

To me, our untouchables are -
Hugo, Toby, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Alli and Kane.
The others, as good as they are in some cases, can be improved upon.

But Dembele wasnt untouchable 18months ago and eriksen was. Just adding context here. Things change and what you are saying now may sound completely crazy in a years time. In fact you should flag that and we can revisit it. I think the best approach is an organic change rather than uprooting. Lets strenthen and see who shows their worth.

Dembele has seemingly overcome his physical issues and responded to having competition and thats pushed him to become the player the vast majority of us thought he could be.

I'm not saying replace Eriksen, get rid of him etc
I think he is at a bit of a cross roads in his career. He threatens to make that step up and prove himself to be a class act who can be relied upon and take games by the scruff of the neck and finally put consistency with his undoubted talent. Perhaps competition, and I mean real competition, not someone to cover or improve the depth, might push him on to become the player plenty think he can be. With his talent he could be an elite player.

As I say, it might sound a bit crazy but the two creative attacking types we have behind Harry could be improved upon. It would be great if it was they who improved! I just look at Payet and Mahrez. They've been pure match winners at times this season, I feel we lacked such a player in our "title challenge"

I agree but i think we tend to evaluate based, on the whole, the now. Its always easier to look at players like payet and mahrez and draw comparisons. I wonder if the chelsea fans are doing the same with hazard and oscar. It would be nice to re visit this convo next season to see how things have moved on and whether we are still looking at payet and mahrez in the same way ( i do really like them both).

I agree about the crossroads and he needs competition but i dont think that should cloud how on the whole he has played a part in our season and how effective he can be. I wouldnt want to lose that.

Btw im prob on my own here but i would probably take oscar.
