I would say Chelseas fielded a much much more consistent first 11 than us last year.... Thier first 11 pretty much won them the leagueFirst 11's don't win trophies.
Squads do and ours have holes in it.
My onions.

I dont think its implied we're arrogant at all. This sums up the article perfectly and i dont see how anyone can disagree.
Now, Tottenham have an excellent squad. Tottenham's first XI is up there with any in the Premier League. Tottenham have young players who continue to improve and others, like Harry Winks, who may now be first-team ready. Yet the fact remains, they couldn't get past Leicester, and then they couldn't get past Chelsea.
And Chelsea have made what they hope will be improvements on a team who set the record for Premier League wins. Do Tottenham have, right now, players coming through their ranks who are at the same level as Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata? If not, then it will be very hard to overtake Chelsea this season.
This is not about breaking up Tottenham's starting XI or blocking the pathway of promising young players; this is not about buying just anyone, but of providing options.
No denying there's a long way to go in the transfer window but any reporter or media outlet can only work with the facts as of the time they write the article and at the moment we've not signed anyone.
They had no European football to contend with.
They also miraculously had fuck all injuries.
They also had a better bench with players like Bats coming on to win them the league.
that is so wrong, most teams that win the league ever since I've been following football have won the title using very little rotation when it comes to winning the league.
for them to win the cups it depends on the ops they draw, and most of the time the winners of the cups CoC and FA Cup have been won by teams that have had very favourable draws (mainly since the PL era)
It's not really about rotating the starting XI. It's about having game changers on the bench. When you can routinely bring on Hazard, Willian, Fabregas, Pedro etc., you can also keep your starters fresh with no drop off in quality. Our bench looked very threadbare at time last season, especially when we had a few injuries.
Our main issue with this is that we can't afford to have players on 100k+ pw sitting on our bench like they can. So it's inevitably made up of young players and fringe players.
Yes, I agree, but it's still an area of weakness for us. I'm hopeful that Onomah and KWP can make the step up this season. Onomah was on the bench a fair bit last season but got no time on the pitch. I thought he was a bit light weight the season before but maybe he's strong enough now. Less sure about KWP who looks feather weight to me. Also banking on Lamela getting fit again which would be like a new signing.
Winks will be that player, if he's not already, and as such I would be completely comfortable seeing him starting a run of PL, or even CL, games. All signing another CM does is reduce his opportunities in what is a crucial development period for him. What we really need is a another genuinely decent CM. I also agree with others that we need a RWB, much as I'm looking forward to seeing Walker Peters come through in our Cup matches. Winks is doing well at coming on as a sub and relieving Dembele, but when we're talking about Champions League and Premier League fixtures, then we need a top level player to play instead of Dembele when he's rested.
Personally, I'm not sold on Barclay, he's more of an AM and if Lamela is going to be back, then we have Son and Lamela to cover Eriksen and Alli.
Sissoko could go to raise more money for the two players we need. We do need cover at RCB, but we can play 4 at the back if we have to and therefore have cover with Dier and Wimmer able to cover for Toby and Verts and Davies as LCB or LWB.
So the priorities for me are: CM and RWB. Hence, Foyth and Kovacic interest?
If we manage to keep everyone fit our bench could look like this:
Vorm
KWP
Davies
Winks
Son
Lamela
Janssen
I think that's pretty decent, last season though our lack of options was magnified because we had so many damn injuries.

Depressing reading this. Every single club including last seasons league winners are improving their teams/squads whilst we are standing still like a bunch of buffoons as per usual. What makes us so special ? We proved last season we couldn't handle both the CL and league. I just don't get what the board and Levy are playing at ? We were already told the stadium would have no impact on transfers and we have just sold Walker for 50 mil.
