It's a curious thing that last season's Southampton team had a reputation for conceding late goals (including against us) and this season's Tottenham team is developing a reputation for scoring them.

The suggestion was that Pochettino's high-intensity-pressing style was knackering his Southampton players, causing them to flag at the end of games.

Has he simply improved and developed his training methods? Is our squad better-suited, in terms of physique, for those methods? Is it just the vagaries of chance in football? Any other ideas?

I think we just have better quality in the final third than Southampton, which means we, are more likely to score than concede late in games as our players are both fitter and better quality than the opposition.

They're still quoting that Sherwood nonsense, even though Eriksen has stated that he has never played at Wembley. Don't these journalists ever check anything?

I think that the vagaries of chance and officials' decisions
go a long way to explaining this in the short term.
Over ten seasons perhaps
the fitness factor might show a consistent effect.
But as you say in two seasons with different clubs
it goes both ways.
Not that we are ever likely to find out
under the same manager
or consistent training philosophies for ten seasons..
Yesterday but for a brilliant last ditch save by Hugo
we wouldn't have won.
It could be attitude and expectation;
we can do this even if it's the 90th. minute.
It worked for Man Utd over many years
Were they better quality players? Probably.
Did they do high intensity training?
or were they just scared to come off
having lost and face Fergie.

Under AVB the players trained especially hard at the end of sessions so that they could finish games stronger as at the time we were conceding late goals - it was a massive turnaround and I think the mind set was still in the players heads (those we had left) under Poch.
