Anyone in Italy, Germany or Holland (or watching their coverage) - what was the opposition reaction to drawing Spurs in their group?
We must have been the strongest in our pot - was there a 'Merda!' from the Milanese when Inter got us, etc.?

I read a Werder Bremen forum (using google translate) - They knew we're one of the tougher group 3 teams but they're happy they don't have to travel far (and get a day out in London). And they think it's between us and them for 2nd.

Much like how we feel about them, really.

We were about 30 seconds from pot 2 as well!

I think someone on here was saying Inter didn't like that draw.

There is an article on the front page with the Werder president pooh-poohing our chances in the group.

Let's smash them.

It's definitely viewed as the strongest group in depth. It could go any way really as all four teams are capable on their day of taking / nicking a point or three.

I'll be happy with third, knowing we'll drop down to the Europa Cup as one of the favourites, and just hope Harry takes it seriously this time.

But I firmly believe we can win our group with a fair wind and a vociferous WHL crowd on three dark winter nights.

That would be brilliant, would hopefully shut Gray and the usual suspects up and give us the last laugh. ****s.

We'd have to win the CL 7 times in a row to shut him up.

The draw has done one thing though, I have no idea whether we will finish first or last in our group, our chance of success seems as likely as our chance of failure. It's a familiar feeling being a Tottenham fan and just one of the many joys of supporting them.

I think Milan have to be concerned at the fact they've lost the magic-man who engineered last years win. Whilst Rafa is a competent manager, and a man who has shown he has an eye for Europe with 'pool previously, he is also prone to being stubborn with his selection & tactics.

Weder i haven't followed at all & Twente... what are they like since Mclaaren left? (that's how he spells it now, right?) They were a dangerous looking side not long ago and, whilst i hope they might've lost some of them teeth, i wouldn't cast them off so easily either.

Tough group, will be exciting

That is not the spirit.

From a Werder Bremen website:

http://bremen.theoffside.com/champions-league/cl-draw-this-is-our-reward-for-qualifying.html?

Allow me to use my oft-uttered phrase: bloody hell! A tough draw, but probably one of the most exciting groups for any neutrals out there. Werder fans will be taking away trips to Milan, north London, and Enschede this season as we take on reigning European champions Inter, new entrants into the Premier League’s “Big Four” Tottenham and Dutch champions FC Twente.

Inter will be the favorites in the group, and I feel like any of the other three teams could progress to the knockout stages. It’ll be a tough fight. We have the advantage of experience at this level over Tottenham, who last reached this level in Europe nearly 50 years ago. Our last venture in the Champions League was two seasons ago, when we finished third in our group and then reached the UEFA Cup finals. Tottenham also seem to run a bit hot and cold like we do; one match they can look impressive and in control, then they can suddenly implode in the next match. FC Twente are first-time Eredivisie winners. We knocked them out of the Europa League last season, coming from 1-0 behind to beat them 4-1 in the second leg and progress. We’ve beaten Inter in recent years (2-1 at the Weserstadion in the 2008/09 season), but now they have Wesley Sneijder, Lucio and Samuel Eto’o, among others, including Diego Milito, who was on fire in Europe last season.

One thing we like to do in Europe: score goals. If our back four don’t get their heads together, we might be relying on our attacking players to help with damage limitation! Like I said – extremely tough draw, but I am looking forward to it.

apa Schaaf sums it up for us:

“If you had watched the draw, which was made together with the announcement of the European Player of the Year awards, then it was quite clear to see how one should rate Inter Milan. Europe’s best player, best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder and best striker all play for the title holders. They are a fantastic team and a massive challenge. Then there is Tottenham, a team that asserted themselves in England and then played very strongly against Bern. With Crouch and Defoe they have some big names within their ranks. Even from Pot 4 we got one of the most difficult teams in Twente Enschede. They are Dutch champions, that says it all. It’s a difficult but also an interesting group. We will have to be in top form and a lot must go in our favour if we are to progress from this tight group.”
