Thanks to jimtheyid enlightening us on the Tottenham Hotspur Hate thread from the man city forum I thought to myself about the insults clubs throw at other clubs based on their name, stadium, motto, etc.

Firstly, I dont really find spuds as much of an insult because bein called a bunch of potatoes hardly warrants your blood starting to boil? Unless spuds means sumthing else like balls or sumthin? Anyone care to shed some light the origins of this?

Secondly, white fart lane isnt really such a bad insult either and with our new stadium this phrase should probably die, along with the actual White Heart Line :(

Thirdly, I cannot think of a good, foul mouthed insult based on our team name.. I mean the worst I'v heard is Tottenham Hotsperms and thats pretty shitty because isnt sperm meant to be hot (well atleast the liquid its carried in is meant to be?).

Other teams in the league have it much worse. Manure, LiverPOO, Man Shitty, and ARSEnal (and what a coincidence that all of those names are associated with excrement and where the excrement comes from...) are of most note. Then you have names like FOOLham and Wet Spam which are of a less vulgarity.

So basically, what I'm asking is which insults based on our name really make your blood boil, which are quite surprisingly clever and which are the worst ones you've heard? Are there any other insults to teams that I have missed out in terms of vulgarity or ones that are just simple puns?

Apologies if this has been done before, and I am not stooping to the Man Shitty fans' level! I'm just intrigued as to how these names came about.

Could be worse. Could be called S****horpe.

The only name that annoys me is when we get the extra 's' on the end of Tottenham Hotspurs. After that it's playground nonsense.

We are a team covered in cocks, cocks on the shirt, cocks on the shorts, a cock for a badge and a massive gold cock overlooking all of us at the ground.

We love the cock

So does everyone else it appears, they always go for the jewish thing and gloss over our cock loving. I suppose we should combine the two and chop a bit off of the top of the cock to keep it kosher (as it were)

Until they got relegated.....

And for the record, we all love a bit of cock, nothing wrong with that.....

I'm with Dougal too, Tottenham Hotspurs annoys me the most.

Spuds?

Why would it be called that? That gets to me as much as the Hotspurs thing gets to others.

Unless this was a joke that wooshed over my head.

Fans on VillaTalk refer to us as Tottenham Hoofspuds and Spurzzzz. Presumably to insinuate that we play boring long ball football.

I find it funny that fans of Aston Villa think it's an insult to say we play boring long ball football.

I'm with Dougal - adding 's' on the end of Hotspur - apart from that it doesn't bother me at all.
(West Ham are still 'spammers' though, hahaha).
