Not knocking the bloke but it's not rocket science weighing up whether someones got a bit of potential. It's the people concerned with getting the best from that raw talent and turning into what Harry and his coaching staff have achieved with Bale. I wouldn't worry too much about Liverpool they've made fuck all use of some very decent footballers to date.

It has just struck me that Scouserpool have always tried to 'copy' THFC...ever since the early 60's.....when we were making all kinds of history (Double, Euro Success). Sadly, for them, it will take more than just employing Commolli to take them forward. They need to employ a decent manager....from Europe or abroad, but that may not be enough? Be ready to see discarded red shirts....(or whatever new designs they are wearing) in both Scouserpool and Manure Shitty? HAPPY days COYS!

Damien Commoli thought Didier Zokora was a replacement for Michael Carrick, do we need to say anymore about the man's footballing judgement ?

Hodgson will get stabbed in the back and discarded, Pool will then employ an overblown continental manager who will suck, be sacked and that will ultimately spell the end of Comolli.

Player-wise he will sign a mixture of genius and dross.

Berbatov, Modric, Gomes and Bale

I questioned his football judgement not all of his signings, the signings you outline prove nothing just as I didn't mention Gilberto. Statistically he was bound to make some good and some bad signings but thinking Zokora could replace Carrick as the fulcrum of our team showed staggeringly bad judgement that set us back several years.

Nail on head

comolli never considers the attitude of the players. They all had raw talent but a lot were arrogant and lazy

I thinks its a good move from Liverpool, IMO this current Spurs Squad has a lot to do with Comolli

one mistake can lead full judgement on person, Sherear said good things about Bassong and Redknapp paid £8m for him as long-term replacement for King/Woodgate injuries, and he is yet to prove half that price and 5th in pecking order for our central defenders ( without Woodgate ) .. with all thanks for him scoring vs Liverpool and Young Boys .

For me atleast, he fulfilled that price tag in the second half of last season. Hardly put a foot wrong.

Think thats a tad harsh on Bassong. Yes he's still got a lot to learn and no doubt Kaboul has surged past him, but he was integral to our squad effort last season.

Bassong has done alright. As of yet, sure, he's not a starter and not perfect but he's young and already held his own for this club when called upon and usually acquitted himself well enough.

As for his price tag - it's about right. A decent youngish CB who had already played to a reasonable standard in the league before.

Commoli made a few errors but he made some fabulous signings. Hindsight and all that but I regret we let him go.

Harry has gone for the likes of Kenwyne Jones, Young and Parker. Signed Keane, Palacios and Bassong who are hardly world beaters. Levy had to intervene with Parker and get VDV himself.

I'm starting to wonder if we made a mistake letting Commoli go? Will Harry get it right if we go for a striker in Jan?

The irony was we were calling out for Commoli to get a left sided player and we had one all along (Bale)!

Palacios has been fantastic for us and Bassong played his part in our best ever premier league finish.

Scott Parker is a very good player. Watching his performance against Arsenal last saturday and comparing it to Jenas' horror show against Man U it's obvious who is the better midfielder. And I'm actually a fan of Jenas usually.

Comolli brought in very good players and I do rate his ability to spot talent. But he made some horrible calls and it landed us with Juande Ramos and a team in complete chaos.

Harry's big target in the summer was Joe Cole, if we had signed him VDV would probably be at Liverpool. Thank f*** Cole was a greedy little so and so. Well done Mr Levy for resisting the clamour to sign him.

Comolli did a mixed job in terms of signing players. Obviously players like Berbatov, Modric, Gomes and Bale were successes but they were hardly unknown; on the plus side they joined us ahead of other clubs.
He was also guilty of spending far too much on Bent, Bentley and, to a lesser extent, Hutton & Boateng.
However his biggest failing was in terms of squad balance; we all knew when we needed an experienced centre half & the left sided player but we signed players like Bentley and Boateng whose positions weren't needed, especially at their prices.
I was particularly frustrated with the handling of the Keane/Berbatov replacements; we wasted too much time on Arshavin and had no plan B, hence ending up with Fraizer Campbell.
I wasn't sad to see him go and I'm not jealous of Liverpool, especially as the DOF system is so very difficult to work in England.

have you all seen this article , it states he signed Gareth Bale, Tom Huddlestone, Michael Dawson, Aaron Lennon, Jermain Defoe and Jermaine Jenas

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 156815.stm

well that article is all types of wrong as lennon joined in july 2005, jenas joined august 2005 and defoe first of all joined spurs in 2004 then came back when redknapp re-signed him.Dawson was also signed in January 2005, Comolli didnt join tottenham until september 2005. Great work there BBC.

I dont believe we can question his ability to spot talent or potential. It was his ability to sign current first team players that was in question.

We have seen players like Bale, Kaboul, Boateng all come in and improve vastly: Kaboul had to leave and come back a stronger player, Bale had to endure the whole "jinx" issue before coming good and Boateng is a mainstay for AC Milan these days - which is no mean feat.

Unfortunately his signing of Zokora is always one that will be questioned. Zokora is a good player but for us he was the wrong type of player at the wrong time. We'd just lost Carrick and any player who didn't play the same way wasn't going to fit into the system.

I would quite happily have him as a scout but not a DOF
