Just thought i would see what the general view of him is now?

has your opinion of him changes this transfer window? has the arrival of gunter and woody the soon to be arrival of hutton, gilberto and possibly tiago changes your view of him? not to mention the role he played in bringing in wendy and his back room team

before we get all the responses that he is a **** and should leave could i just take the moment to say that no, you are the **** for not being able to understand his role and not being able to put your view across in a mature manner

When Ramos joined, there was talk that Comolli would have a back seat for the first two transfer windows, with Ramos taking the lead. Ramos was quoted as saying that he'd turned down 6 or 8 players so it sounds like that could be the case.

We'd been chasing Downing for 2 1/2 years and when we had the chance he wasn't signed. That suggests to me that Ramos is flexing his muscle and DC is now acting more as a facilitator than an instigator.

If you look back at who Comolli got in previous January windows (Murphy/Ghaly, Alnwick/Rocha) this one stands out as being much more successful. I see this as the effect of Ramos rather than Comolli.

It's quite incredible how people believe they know how our set up works.

Surely the question about Comolli and his overall performance is since his arrival do we.....

have a stronger 1st team
Have a stronger squad
have a better management team
have a better youth set up and team
have recoreded better financial results

personally I think that the answers to all of the above questions are yes, some might disagree and say that aren't and that's fine but for me Comolli is doing a very good job.

got to agree with BOF, i think Ramos has been stronger than Jol in transfer dealing and getting his way more and telling comolli instead of being told

As we are probably the best option outside the top 4, our cahnces of signing players, who probably would not get into the top 4 clubs is a relatively easy task. Gunter, Woodgate, Tiago and Hutton have hardly been pursued by Man U, Arse, Chavs and the Scousers are skint!!.

Having said that, I like the brave appraoch Levy and his men are adopting.

He didn't say that they were players suggested by Comolli did he?

I would be shocked if Ramos has only turned down 6-8 players this window!

Clubs are deluged during windows by agents offering players from all over the world. All Prem clubs will have turned down a significant number of players this & every window.

People agreeing with BOF are half right. The system is still exactly the same, it's just that Jol has been replaced with Ramos. So instead of Jol saying yes let's get Downing, Juande has said no he's poopy! Thats the only difference.

Comoli is doing a good job.

if anyone wants to know what commoli's job description is and how he fits in when purchasing players just read jols book, jol himself describes it so there should not be any missunderstanding as to his role anymore

wasnt that his role at arse? after wenger had identifyed the player it was then comolli's job to then make the transfer happen.

i remember something about glen roader being offered that kind of job at arse aswell.

but then again i might be completely wrong

You've heard Ramos say this?

My, nic, you don't half talk out of your arse at times. I mean, it would be absolutely unthinkable that Ramos and Jol could rate the same players, wouldn't it?

So Gus enthuses about Downing on TV knowing that Ramos thinks he's poopy? A totally plausible scenario.

it's hard to know what goes on behind closed doors, but I'd hope the coach weather it was Jol or Ramos would identify areas were they would consider us weak and DC would come back with a list of possible players?

if we sign all the players we're linked with then I'd be pretty impresssed with JR and DC

Sloth is...well...a bit slow!

I think people are quick to blame and point fingers in times of trouble. When fan-favourite Jol got the boot, many felt Comolli was responsible as he was the one signing the players who had clearly failed to perform. He probably could take his share of the blame but there isn't a single player he has signed who you could class as an out and out failure. At the end of the day, it was Jol's failing to make the most out of the players he, Comolli and Levy had brought to the club.
Comolli clearly had a remit to invest in prospective talent and has done so at a considerable cost. It may never work out but that is the risk when your job is to buy potential. Some you win, some you lose and the policy meant that when we lose, we sell on for a profit. You can't really argue with that as business sense.

At the moment Comolli is perhaps tackling a different task and negotiating the arrival of more proven talent. Something tells me that if any of these players fail, it won't be Comolli that get's the blame. Nothing has really changed in his role of catalyst but people won't really pay attention. He's French, he's ugly and he talks funny - People have made their mind up already.

I think Juande is a master tactician who has a crystal clear plan for the way he wants the team to play and like Wenger, knows exactly the type of players he needs to achieve this.
I think before he came we did'nt really have a masterplan in place. We seemed to buy players very erratically and if they did'nt work out,we sold them if we could and went and bought some more. There are still a good few here that will not make the standard required for Ramos and their days are numbered. There were problem areas in the team that needed sorted for a long period of time but for whatever reasons they were never properly addressed.
That wont be allowed to happen again under Ramos because this man is not here to make up the numbers,he is a total professional who will not rest until he wins major trophies for Spurs.
If the press can be trusted(unlikely I know)then our transfer policy has definitely changed and so too our ceiling on wages.Levy is very definitely backing Ramos to the hilt because we now have a management team in place that can fulfill all our hopes.
The biggest problem for us may be keeping them here!

It will take time before we can judge whether Comolli is/was a success. He does seem to have been behind the decision to go for Ramos, so he deserves credit for that. It's now his job to make sure we do everything to hold on him for the next 5 years at least.

I simply don't understand most people's misconception about how the club buys and sells players. I have seen Levy quoted a number of times now clearly stating that decisions are made by a 3-man committee consisting of himself, Comolli and Ramos (with Jol instead of Ramos before his sacking). We can only guess what goes on these meetings, but it seems so far that all 3 get along fine. Given Ramos's pedigree, I would assume he speaks with more authority than Jol did, and therefore has greater influence in who is brought in and who is sold. However that is just my guess.

I hope the Levy, Comolli and Ramos team stay for the next 5 years at least. If they do, I can see us winning things, and starting to play regular Champions League Football.
