I agree. Gallagher isn't a traditional 10, probably best in Sarr's role. I would even argue that Sarr is already a better ball advancing b2b midfielder than Gallagher. But where Gallagher is good is that he works hard defensively, yet arrives in the box to support crosses and the ST.

If you watch how he got his goals at Crystal Palace, it's easy to see why the reports that Ange likes him make a lot of sense. I think he'd get a lot of goals in his system while not sacrificing defensive balance.

All moot point since very little chance we get him, but probably why I'm more excited by the link than most.
Agree mate, I do rate him as well.

Think he would be excellent in this system, much more than PEH.

Tottenham weigh up Conor Gallagher bid and Brennan Johnson offer

Chelsea's swoop for Cole Palmer may open possibility of Gallagher leaving if Spurs offer near £50 million for England international

Tottenham are weighing up a late transfer window bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, with an official offer set to be tabled for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson.

Gallagher captained Chelsea in the club’s Carabao Cup victory over Wimbledon on Wednesday night and has started every game under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

But Chelsea’s swoop for Cole Palmer from Manchester City has encouraged Spurs to discuss a late effort to try to sign Gallagher. The 23-year-old is happy at Chelsea and willing to fight for his place, but the arrival of Palmer will provide extra competition.

Palmer is believed to have been told that Chelsea see him competing for a place in the No 10 and right-wing positions, which are two spots Gallagher can fill.

Having agreed a deal with City worth up to £45 million for Palmer, the 21-year-old is scheduled to undergo a medical ahead of formally moving to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea last month rejected a bid from West Ham United, worth £40 million, for Gallagher and would turn down a similar bid from Spurs.

But Tottenham may give Chelsea something to think about should they bid anywhere near £50 million for England international Gallagher.

It remains to be seen whether or not Spurs will formalise their interest in Gallagher, as the club look to beat Brentford to the signing of Forest star Johnson.

I would be interested if PEH leaves as I think he fits Ange's system. I didn't appreciate that when the initial links occurred.

Would have liked a CM with a bit more defensive capability to come in but I think he would be a really good squad option.

Not a chance they sell to us this close to the deadline. It's Chelsea. They'll fuck about and it won't go through.

Also - spending the Kane money on Gallagher and Johnson would be so disappointing. A real lack of creativity or ambition.

Started every game for Poch so far hasn’t he? Why on earth would they sell him, especially to us

Seems just another waste of time

Here's a tip for you, instead of being so upset about us spending the Kane money on Gallagher and Johnson, why don't you just say we've spent the Kane money on Maddison and VdV ? Much better isn't it.

I think Gallagher would be absolutely monstrous in a Ange system, where despite a different skillset to Maddison, he could very well fill either that most advanced role as a #10 (but more in the Dele mold than Madders) or the Bentancur/Sarr role - he has limitations, but let's not forget he was truly class for that season on loan at Palace getting a chance to play further up. Last year when Potter/Lampard played him in a double pivot, that was always going to be a spectacular failure. The energy he brings is critical for what Ange wants.

With that being said, this feels a bit like lazy journalism for clicks following the Palmer signing.

Different chelsea under the American. He won’t care it’s us, it’s just business to him.

If we need him and he's willing to come then it doesn't really matter if he's 35 or 50.
I have my doubts on both though.
