It will be a massive plus if we can get a midfielder in this window to put out a strong midfield trio still in the absence of Bissouma and Sarr, and with Maddison hopefully soon returning too.

I really like the idea of Gallagher as I think it would give us the capability to still look like a really strong side with even one or two players missing.

In all respect to them both, we have to try and move away from absentees resulting in us having to start Skipp or Hojbjerg.

But do we really see us and Chelsea doing business??

I just can’t see it happening

Feel like this probably gets poo-poo’d shortly by more reputable sources. But, maybe Chelsea came to us at that £40m figure as opposed to the previously reported £50m and we feel bad Ange spent the holiday without his family and we want to give him a little pick me up. We could even put Conor in a wrapped box with a big bow and let Ange open it up.

Gallager would be a dream signing.

He is a very good no8 IMO. His numbers this season is as good as any no8 in whole of PL.
High energy pressing midfielders, can dribble and do the timely passes.

I really hope this happens.

Given that they need to sell hundreds of millions of pounds worth of players every year and only a select few clubs can do that, they're not in a position to be picky.

I do wonder if the form of Sarr makes this transfer less likely now. He’s been a revelation this year and I can’t see us spending £50 million on Gallagher when we have him playing so well there.
Good post Tucker,

I feel Ange's midfield jigsaw if we bring Gallagher in is, in no particular 1st or 2nd choice order

6) Bissouma / Bentancur
8) Gallagher / Sarr
10) Deki / Maddison

With Sarr and Gallagher, we won't see a drop off in the legs and energy they bring to the 8 role, so can see why we have been heavily linked.

I'll start to believe it if he isn't in Chelsea's line up. Announced in 7 mins.
I think he will start, as captain. I also think it's not close but him starting today will have no bearing on if we get him or not

Are there any other clubs in the Premier League that is looking for his skill set at the moment that could compete in terms of stature and price tag?

Also worth noting Chelsea fans would be fuming if this went through, which is always a good sign.

Newcastle, maybe United. If Liverpool hadn't signed three midfielders in the summer then maybe them.

I just can’t see them dealing with us.

Hopefully we either get it done quickly or move on, so as not to be pissed around by them all January.

Re Ederson I can completely see why, if we like Gallagher, we would be interested in in him. He’s a very solid all round B2B midfielder who doesn’t necessarily excel at any particular area but is also very consistent and hard working. He is very solid defensively and good at keeping possession. He’s a straightforward physical dribbler, ie a player who will use his body strength, a good touch and open space to move the ball forward. His passing range is rather controlled when he’s in the opposition half he is more of a sideways passer who looks to keep possession rather than looking for a killer through ball. When he’s in his own half tho he will be more looking for a progressive pass to start a counter or break the lines. He’s not a creative playmaker tho so don’t get fooled by any wild YouTube vids you might see. Defensively as I mentioned he is very solid, good at reading the play and getting a foot in. Essentially a very solid all rounder. I don’t think he’d be a starter when everyone is fit but a very decent squad player who can also fill in at 6. He’d maybe not be a top choice for me but I wouldn’t be adverse to getting him.

Atalanta play Lecce at 11.30 today if anyone fancies watching him. It’s on TNT sport

New ownership does not have the same history with Spurs/Levy.

If they need to sell, they would not hesitate to do business with Spurs.
