What a player, very pleased for him - he is proving that he is simply one of the best players in the world. I feel pride and sadness all mixed together when I see him do what he did tonight.

Bale and Modric celebrating together.

Is it just me and my limited watching of Spanish football but of this seasons Madrid games it seems to me that that Di Maria won't pass to Bale he'd rather smash it ten miles wide from a ridiculous angle than pass to him.

Like i say it could be i don't watch enough games (can't stand the diving and rolling around or being a pussy or acting the twat)

Fantastic goal, just what we've missed this season.
Congrats Gareth.

And thats why you never sell some players - no matter the price.

Oh come on, he'd outgrown us whether we like it or not, the guy was tearing teams apart on his own time and again. We had at least 3 great seasons out of him and made a massive profit at the end of it. The memories of him destroying Inter twice in the space of about a week will live with me for a long time.

There's not many industries where you can prevent an employee leaving for a better offer - let's face it, contracts in football give the players and the clubs some financial security and help to fund the development of young players. That's about it. We can't really refuse players the chance to develop their very short careers and we all think very differently when we're prizing star players from 'smaller' clubs or sacking off those we don't think are good enough.

Just take some pride in the fact that our club played a part in the development of Bale and Modric and remember the good times they gave us. Even if they stayed with us their whole careers they'd be gone eventually.

Didn't he have any non Welsh ancestry he could've found down the back of a sofa somewhere?
His grandfather is English but the English FA only contacted his agent so it was never a realistic proposition

Edit- it's his grandmother- snippet from wikipedia: "
Bale was eligible to play for England through his grandmother, but he stated in 2007 that:

"It is an honour to play for Wales...Nobody ever got in touch with me personally from England, only through my agent."[116]"

Well, I'm proud to say Bale played for the club.

Him and Eriksen are my favourite players on the planet (Bale more so than Eriksen)

I think Bale's the best player to play for Spurs- many people won't say that now but when he retires, I'm fairly sure people will look back and say it.

Well, that's unless Eriksen and Lamela prove me wrong :p
