2 things I thought were interesting.

Our short corners were totally fooling Stoke. They didn't know how to cope as each time we seemed to be taking one short the 2nd defender came over and left Lennon unmarked on the edge of the box.

Of course one of our goals also came from a short corner. Our longer ones from Bentley were much better as well

Second thing - defending the Stoke corners we always left 2 up (Defoe and Lennon) and for a couple Modric as well. A good tactic as it leaves us one defender to the good if they leave 4 defenders to cover 3 attackers. Plus it clears some of the conjestion in the box.

I'd like to see us defend more like that and turn defence into attack as well.

Some credit to Harry and his team?

yup. if we had all our players back, it would just give them a chance to bring more people forward for corners. defoe and lennon are great threats for counter-attacks

I heard they practised the day before as preparation for delap's throws. I thought Dawson was immense he was zonal marking and not man marking, he got to practically every header, a great performance from the guy. His heading was very strong getting a lot of distance from the goal.

Totally agree (and was actually saying the same thing to my mate in the Shelf at the time) - the mixing it up with corners worked a treat. Modric also showed that he crosses very well with both feet.

Bentley's improvement has also continued. He had two free kicks on target, and other set piece delivery was good.

One of the reasons i like Zokora aswell is because of his defending for corners. He is very good at acting as a sweeper when a team counter attacks our corners and free-kicks.

I'm also looking forward to seeing the return of the leaping Chimbonda.

It actually went in sequence, they are such a big side that we played the short corners which pulled two defenders out of the middle then we played the ball out to BAE to shoot from outside the box so the next time they had to pull another defender out to cover that so after that any corners plyed into the box left them three men down on their usual quota, vey clever.

Loved the fact that we left Defoe and Lennon upfield which for their corners which meant they had to leave three back and lets face it Defoe and Lennon ain't goin to win no headers are they.
