I gave him some criticism at half time, I still think for 84 minutes he had a very poor game, but bloody hell... That is goal of the season for me from Alli. An absolutely superb, instinctive individual goal worthy of winning any game of football. I leapt about 8 feet out of my chair when it hit the back of the net. Superb kid, absolutely superb.

Chadli's strike will be overshadowed, but that was in itself very nice and I was pleased he came on and contributed. I felt we looked a bit better with him holding his width on the left and he's come up with a goal and an assist, good to have more players stepping up in the final third.

I didn't think the performance was good and we have to be better in the coming weeks, we rode a lot of luck, but battling and individual quality got us to the win. Utd losing late on makes it seem even more important and uplifting to battle to the three points.

You know the wonderful thing about Alli? He has a remarkable mentality for a 19year old. Incredible determination (and natural ability) - he's a one off - even on a poor performance day. He has quite a personal story - which I think is the catalyst for the remarkable young footballer he is, we're so lucky to have him. And Chadli...we've almost forgotten how good he can be, he too, is a real talent, throw in Lamela not even playing and for the first time in years, we really have a squad, a team, a mentality that can take us somewhere. Players want to play, they want to be a part of the first X1, they want to win, they can take a hit and still come back to win. I barely recognise my club. I'm loving it! (and have been waiting for it for 30 years!)

@Archibald&Crooks just on the "doh" rating - Alli almost cost us prior to his goal twice for not even getting off the ground - And almost everyone on here was crying him for him to be subbed around that time in the game. Mr "hindsight"

Gascoigne would have been proud of that goal. It was truly in that class. Alli can drift out of games, he makes errors of judgment, his passing needs more forethought and he wants to learn to control his temper a bit better. He's 19 and he'll be doing that for some time.

But what that goal shows is that he has that un-teachable brain-speed and muscle-speed, the improvisational ability that sets apart the great players from the good ones, allied to a Gerrard-esque sense of occasion.

I thought he would be a fine player before today. Now I think he may develop into a history-of-football great.

Big statement, but there's no doubting that goal is a 'histroy of football great' level. Even Zidane would have pinched himself if he'd scored that.

Agree. It was his decision to make that change so early that I liked. It's been lacking somewhat so good to see.

Alli's goal was so special that it was totally forgotten that he had actually ducked out of a header that led to Palace hitting the crossbar twice. That goes in, different game and we would have sung a different tune about Alli. Fine margins. We march on.
