He does seem to struggle with physicality though. As you say other slight players are capable of managing so it's not as though he'd be a lost cause by any means, but I do think we'd realistically need to expect that he'd need some time to come to grips with the Premier League if he were to come.

If he's coming in as somewhat of an Eriksen replacement we won't miss too much physically. Eriksens a lovely player but he's not exactly a bruiser

For me it's not about what he would offer when out of possession, but rather how he'd cope with the physical nature of opposing midfielders while in possession. Eriksen doesn't put in challenges but he does just fine on the ball, Ceballos seems to go down in a heap any time he's brushed.

I'm sure he's perfectly capable of coming to grips with the PL but I think it'd take a bit of time for him to settle and would require a bit of patience.

I think if it's a worst case scenario of Eriksen leaving we could do a lot worse than Ceballos coming in as long as Lo Celso is doable with the extra Eriksen funds.

Ndombele, Winks and Ceballos, along with Lo Celso, Dele, Son, Lamela & Lucas has a lot of genuine class and a variety of options. All of them would be 27 or under as well.

Dier and Skipp adding depth and all around our midfield options have a pretty impressive look to them. It would be a risk replacing Eriksen with Ceballos but at this stage and with only one year left on his deal it's out of our hands. I'd love to see Christian stay though.

Yeah, pretty much that.

Guys a class act, we've obviously been watching him for a while. And let's be honest you play with real Madrid for a reason. Would love him here

It’s called the dark arts. It’s time we embrace them. We’re at this level now.

Would make a lot of sense that this is starting to heat up given that the U-21 Euros just wrapped up.

Why do AC Milan think they are getting him? Seem confident
My mate is a Milan fan, apparently after his last U21s game a reporter showed him a newspaper that had him going to Milan, he smiled and said "ahh Milan" or something like that.

Now I've told him we might be in for him and he isn't happy:sneaky:

Would be nice to have a CM who chips in with a few goals. Between Sissoko, Dembele, Winks, Dier and Wanyama we've probably averaged about 2 CM goals a season in recent years, which much be one of the lowest in the league.

With Ndombele and maybe Lo Celso and/or Ceballos we'd surely score an awful lot more.

Reading the arsenal comments on the Ndombele deal in Spurs chat they all seem to think we're getting Ceballos too. I wonder if its just the paper links or something their ITKs are saying. They are supposedly the other team in for him.

Seriously how many times have you seen him play? I remember people going off on one about Kovacic (at Real) he was not better than what Chelsea already had.

Kovacic have played one season in PL he will become great.

Wanyama has also been clocking up the miles in the AFCON. Would be great to have him fit and well again.

I look at the weight Wanyama has had to lose, possibly advised to with his legs being how they were and I can't see it happening sadly. I hope I'm wrong get but he just doesn't look the bruising player he once was.

Football is becoming more and more an athletic game... if Wanyama has lost some weight, that may help is athletic ability and mobility around the pitch, we don't want an old bruiser plodding around the pitch.

Well tbh I don't think he's as high on our wishlist as others are. Imo(slightly educated) I'd say this was a more favourable deal from Madrid's side than ours, as we'd prefer others.

I posted last Summer we were looking at him but I'm not sure we've actively looked to push it forward
Again it's not something I've been outright told which is why I'm putting it in here rather than in the itk thread.

Do you think Wanyama looked more athletic for his weight loss when he came back or a little more frail? I didn't see an athletic footballing type player so there wasn't any benefit we gained from his thinner look.

The big bruising player gave us far more than the one who looked knackered after every game. I love Victor but I would be shocked if he has a long term future after nearly 2 seasons out.

Cheers Trix. Perhaps he's a backup option in case we can't get Lo Celso. However I reckon we'd need both of them (or a couple of similar players) if Eriksen leaves.

I hate the arguement that he's too small/slight for the Prem. Last season the best CM in the league was Bernardo Silva - 5"8 and hardly muscular. He's clever and gets stuck in which is all we'd expect from Ceballos.

Wanyama had come back from a series of serious injuries, which explains why he "looked knackered after every game" as he's still building up to peak fitness, but there's some debate as whether underlying injuries mean he won't regain peak fitness like previous seasons. Nothing to do with his weight IMO.

Anyway, I don't want to take this Ceballos thread further off topic. Trix - thanks for the latest opinions/info, we'll be watching this space to see what happens with Real Madrid.
