Certainly not adverse to the idea of signing him at the mooted fee.

Of course Youtube showcases the best bits, but he does seem to pick the right pass.

I certainly get the B. Silva comparison, looks tenacious, but also agile.

Not against this, but if we're very close to Lo Celso (~60 mil) and seem very likely to sign a pair of Sessegnons (~30 mil), and have already dropped 65 mil on Ndomble and Clarke...that's a serious chunk of change. Has Levy stopped taking his pills?

He also specifically left Barca to play in Croatia as he would be guaranteed game time. I don't see why he'd come to Spurs if he wants to start every week.

I like the idea that he's already arranged a monster of a naming rights deal on the stadium.

For his development, yes. I don't think he's under any illusion that he won't have to earn his games wherever he ends up next.

If the rumours are true, I just can't see how we will fit everyone in. I understand having a strong squad is important but if we manage to sign Lo Celso which is looking likely, as it stands we would have 7 players vying for 3 positions in some games and two positions in others if we play Winks, Sissoko and Ndombele together.

It would leave us with Son, Eriksen, Moura, Lamela, Dele, Lo Celso and Olmo. We are also rumoured to be after Ceballos so I am guessing that a couple of players would be leaving.

From that bank of players, I would guess Eriksen & Moura (Poch rates Lamela over Moura apparently) would be the players available. I would also guess that Lamela would be available at the right price as Lo Celso strikes me as a similar player (albeit a better one).

If the Olmo rumours are true i see 3 options (Eriksen leaving in every) :
- Lamela leaving
- Rose leaving and Sess will be our left back already (you forgot about him)
- Ceballos doesn't come

Is it not said that the way Poch operates no player is guaranteed a starting spot.

Winks this past week has come out and said the hardest part after making the starting eleven regularly, is keeping the spot.

Under Pochettino, you've got to earn the right.

Luckily, most footballers back themselves and I'd suggest wouldn't see this as a stumbling block when considering joining Spurs.

If Olmo is the main man at Zagreb...cool. If he wants to be the main man at Spurs...cool. Earn that right.

If that notion sees him hypothetically turn us down, I'd not want a player like that in any case. (y)

I'm pretty sure Poch stated something along the lines of this in his book or in an interview, don't remember which: When you join Spurs you sign up to train, not to play. You have to earn your spot.

I see your point, but to pick a starting XI out of that is one fantastic headache for Poch to have.

So many options for so many different opponents.

Funny, people were complaining about our squad depth and now when we will probably have 7-8 players for 4 places it's too much :D

Depends on his character I guess. There's a difference between being the main man and being a regular starter though. If a club like Lyon had a guaranteed spot on their first eleven for him, at his age it might be a smarter move to go there rather than fighting for minutes at Spurs.

I hear you, but I have a different take.

It takes a lot of courage for a young player to leave the best Academy in the world and move to eastern Europe, and a country where he almost certainly doesn't speak the language, as a young teenager.

The comfort zone option for Dani Olmo was to stay at La Masia.

But his decision meant he played proper Champions League football at Zagreb, and according to wiki:

On 17 December 2018, Olmo was named the best player of the Croatian First Football League for 2018. On 3 June 2019 Olmo was named the best player and best young player of the 2018–19 Croatian First Football League season.

For me, this shows a great mentality, a real determination to play football at the highest level he could whilst he was 17-20 years old.

I suspect Poch will love that mentality as much as his undoubted ability.

Yeah if we're close to signing Lo Celso, Olmo is surely an alternative to Ceballos? Can't see us signing all 3...

if we are bringing in Lo Celso AND this kid AND Sessegnon in attack, then we will definitely sell Eriksen and our squad shape will look like this imo:

Lloris/Gazzaniga/Whiteman (HG)

???/Aurier/KWP (HG)
Alderweireld/Sanchez
Vertonghen/Foyth
Rose (HG)/Davies (HG)

Winks (HG)/Dier/Skipp (U21)
Ndombele/Sissoko
Lo Celso/Alli (HG)

Olmo (U21)/Lamela
Kane (HG)/Lucas
Son/Sessegnon (U21)

However if Sessegnon is coming in to replace Rose (which I hope he isn't), then we could definitely sign Lo Celso and this kid and keep Eriksen.

Yep. Doesn’t bother me one bit. That’s what big clubs do. If certain players end up on the fringes it means others are making greater contributions to the team. Real competition raises standards and should bring out the best in top players.

I love Eriksen for example, but he’s had no one pushing him at all for years.

Most likely the latter, right?

The same people who look at Man City's bench with the likes of DeBruyne, Sane, Bernardo Silva, Mendy, Danilo, Jesus et al often waiting to get, on and say 'How can we evr compete with that?'

That's how titles are won. A strong squad. And after last season where we were down to brass tacks at one point, and everyone blowing out their arse in the last 10 games, I'd say getting a brutally strong squad of options to compete is the difference between us punching to get into the CL final, and winning it.
