Family members and friends sit shiva for the week post-death. Family members can still work while sitting shiva, sitting shiva only occurs at a certain time in the day (dependent upon how religious the family is - I am guessing Levy isn't ultra-orthodox).

Burial is traditionally within 24 hours except on the Sabbath from Friday evening and Saturday as no "work" can be done during that time.

If the immediate family sits shiva (literally sit in mourning and receive visitors) it can be up to a week in orthodox circles but often these days is less where a family is not so strictly religious.

So Daniel Levy will be away until whichever period it is for his family has elapsed.
