Standard Liege defender Daniel Opare has welcomed speculation suggesting he could be a target for Tottenham Hotspur.
The Ghana international, who spent time in Real Madrid's academy system earlier in his career, is said to have been recommended to Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas by the club's new technical director Franco Baldini.
Opare has spent the last three years working on his game in Belgium and is considered to be ready to take a step up in class.
The 22-year-old feels he could handle the challenges posed by the Premier League if an opportunity arose and is delighted to hear that leading sides in England are mulling over an approach.
Opare said: "I am flattered by the interest of Spurs. They are a very good team in England I will jump at the chance to join them if they reach an agreement with my current club.
"I know there is a long way to go yet and also the level in England is a lot higher than in Belgium, but I think I can play there at a good level.
"If I get the chance to play for a team like Tottenham I will take it."

Guessing he will be a replacement for Naughton and then we will keep either Ekotto or Rose or bring in someone completely new

For me, the best part about this link is that we must be aware of Imoh Ezekiel. He also plays for Standard Liege and is one of my favorite young talents (admittedly after not knowing who he was a mere 3-4 months ago).

So, if we do rate him we will probably be interested in him. If we don't, I will just assume my evaluation of him wasn't quite on.

Great athlete but right-footed and predominantly a RB. Also not the greatest defender in the world. Exciting talent, but not 100% sure he is what we need at LB.

Might be imagining this but during the Fryers story I think someone mentioned that we have an unofficial feeder relationship with Liege.
