It's a squad game. Would he improve our squad? Yes. Would he be a better options than Ade, RS, Lennon, Paulinho and Townsend? Yes. Does he have potential to improve beyond where he is currently at? Yes. Does he seem like a Poch player? Yes.

All more valid and important questions IMO.
Totally disagree. I do not want any player bought for any position except goalie who is not good enough to be 1st choice. We have too many "squad" players.

I do. Every player in the squad can't be a world beater. It's not sustainable for a club of our size. Ings is homegrown, fits the system, and he's only 22, so there's still time for him to improve.
I don't expect "world beaters" but I do not want to buy a player who is not good enough. And you effectively have said that Ings is not good enough but hope he will be good enough in the future.
In January you are buying for right now not the future.

This.

We don't have the money nor the attraction of City or United, for example, who can afford three or four top names in each position. Look at the striking options each has this season for example. We cannot compete at that level.

Ings looks a real prospect and shouldn't cost the earth given that his contract is expiring. That type of signing is our bread and butter.

I'd be really happy with his signing. Look what Poch has done for Kane and also for Lambert and Jay Rodriguez. No reason why that can't be repeated with Ings.

Danny Ings won't appeal to many because he isn't a big name and isn't foreign. But he's adapted to the Prem, knows the language and knows what's expected of him at Spurs. He's a very good option in my opinion.

Don't understand. Kane wasn't good enough 12 months ago but is now. People at the club had faith in him and their faith has now been rewarded. Southampton tried to buy him last year. Wonder what that tells us about Mitchell and/or Pochettino ?

If we have the same faith in Ings to develop as we had in Kane he must be a good buy for the near future if not today.

No, that's not what I said. Ings is good enough to play an important role for us this season, and because of his relatively low age, he is likely to get even better with time.

If we get him in the summer and he has a pre-season-who knows?

He'd be decent in the summer but the fact is we need him now. If Kane gets injured or we need someone who can offer something else in a game who else have we got? I know it's not easy but I think we should try hard to get it done this window and hopefully we can

I don't think we will get him if we wait for the summer. I would guess he'd be off to his childhood club, Southampton. That being said, there would likely be more options for that position in the summer.

It truly comes down to whether or not we want to pay a slight premium on him now, or wait for the summer to approach other targets.

This is not a snipe, but given this is the case why do you want Berahino so much? Do you see him as a better player than Kane? Or perhaps a more effective left forward than Chadli? Genuine question.

Tom Collomosse ‏@TomCStandard now
Paul Mitchell is a big fan of Danny Ings. I expect Spurs to be in the conversation for him, either this month or summer #thfc #bfc
By the way he said we should listen to this person for Ings news (I assume she wrote the Lancashire Telegraph article) and she has said this:

Jonny Wallace ‏@J_Wallace_84 17m17 minutes ago
@LT_Suzanne Is Danny Ings heading South in January Suzanne?
Suzanne Geldard‏@LT_Suzanne
@J_Wallace_84 Spurs you mean? I'm sure that's the outcome they would like but whether it happens remains to be seen. Burnley determined

I think Berahino is ready to play in our 1st team. He can play centrally or out left. He is quicker and smarter than Ings and scores more goals. I would have confidence if he were starting in place of Chadli or Harry whereas I don't have the same confidence about Ings.

So you're suggesting that Berahino, if he signed (which he won't), should replace one of them in the starting XI. Am I right?

So what did you mean?
I mean he is good enough to be a 1st team starter. Harry or Chadli may lose form or be injured and I believe he is good enough to replace them and be effective, possibly equally.
ATM he plays for WBA and Ings plays for Burnley so it's all about opinion. You are entitled to yours.
