I think Berahino is ready to play in our 1st team. He can play centrally or out left. He is quicker and smarter than Ings and scores more goals. I would have confidence if he were starting in place of Chadli or Harry whereas I don't have the same confidence about Ings.

I don't, he doesn't contribute enough defensively. He'd need to be worked hard.

Comparison:

Kane: 1.0 successful tackles, .56 interceptions per game, 1.5 successful take ons, .75 clearances per game

Chadli: .76 successful tackles, .47 interceptions per game, 1.0 successful take ons, .71 clearances per game

Eriksen: 1.2 successful tackles, .50 interceptions per game, 1.3 successful take ons, .70 clearances per game

Lamela: 1.63 successful tackles, 1.16 interceptions per game, 2.26 successful take ons, .37 clearances per game

Berahino: .65 successful tackles, .25 interceptions per game, .7 successful take ons, 0 clearances per game

Ings: 1.0 successful tackles, .53 interceptions per game, 1.88 successful take ons, .41 clearances per game

A lot of people suggesting D Levy won't buy Ings when he is out of contract in the summer.

We signed Lewis Hotlby for £1.5m when we had already agreed to sign him for free. He was u21 German captain. I think if Mitchell rates him and a sensible deal can be done, Levy will go for it.

I do not understand the Berahino hype.

Thanks for those stats. Defensively-forget about Berahino. I don't think he even comes back for opposition corners!:(
He is by no means the finished article but I see massive improvement in him but only some improvement in Ings.
I would love both at the club-but right now in January Berahino will never be cheaper and Ings will be for nothing in the summer.
If Berahino does not come I would be OK but not thrilled with Ings for this window.

Schalke wouldn't have been potentially relegated without Holtby though. Burnley would find it extremely difficult to replace Ings for the next half of the season, and he's potentially their best player.

That's why I think Ings can't be bought this winter.

I mean he is good enough to be 1st team starter. Harry or Chadli may lose form or be injured and I believe he is good enough to replace them and be effective, possibly equally.
ATM he plays for WBA and Ings plays for Burnley so it's all about opinion. You are entitled to yours.
What the fuck has the club they play for got to do with anything?

How can you tell what sort of improvement a player will have? After seeing Kane's massive, yet unexpected, improvement, I think it's near impossible to detect how much a player will improve. You can judge potential, not improvement IMO. I like Ings and Berahino by the way, but I think Ings fits better with our team (for the defensive and pressing reasons) and I think he has a better attitude, which is what we need. The Berahino transfer isn't actually financially viable as well.

Tweets from Lancashire Telegraph reporter for Burnley FC. Nothing groundbreaking but would have decent info you'd imagine.

@LT_Suzanne: Spurs you mean? I'm sure that's the outcome they would like but whether it happens remains to be seen. Burnley determined

@LT_Suzanne: @J_Wallace_84 May depend what other clubs do, if anything. Several interested parties, probably waiting to see who blinks first

I posted the first one and she has replied to my tweet as well:

@LT_Suzanne Daily Mail (I know) said that the possibility of us turning to other targets could make Ings change his mind-Could this be true?
Suzanne Geldard ‏@LT_Suzanne 11m11 minutes ago
@THFCSPURS19 I doubt it. In the event of any movement (which is by no means guaranteed) there's plenty of interest, not just Spurs

It was not unexpected to me. I am actually surprised Harry was not 1st choice at the beginning of the season.

You post very quickly. I suggest you read what people are saying before you make comments such as "What the fuck has the club they play for got to do with anything?"
The point is I am expressing an opinion=a guess because neither player has ever appeared in a Spurs shirt.

And I'm debating your opinion....

This.

We don't have the money nor the attraction of City or United, for example, who can afford three or four top names in each position. Look at the striking options each has this season for example. We cannot compete at that level.

Ings looks a real prospect and shouldn't cost the earth given that his contract is expiring. That type of signing is our bread and butter.

I'd be really happy with his signing. Look what Poch has done for Kane and also for Lambert and Jay Rodriguez. No reason why that can't be repeated with Ings.

Danny Ings won't appeal to many because he isn't a big name and isn't foreign. But he's adapted to the Prem, knows the language and knows what's expected of him at Spurs. He's a very good option in my opinion.

Spot on. Glad to see more and more coming around to this.

Tbh if Poch trusts Mitchell and Mitchell believes Ings will perform in our system then I'm fully behind any move for him.

And in all probability pay for Ings with Holtby's transfer fee to another club.

Burnley are no way gonna sell Ings in this window. Any slim hope of them staying up will depend on Ings scoring goals. The fact they may lose out on a few million, means nothing when staying in the premier league is worth £40-50m.

It's worth noting that Burnley host QPR tomorrow. I would imagine the result of that match would certainly at least factor somewhat into whether Burnely imagine him remaining is worth the gamble or not.
