We're in the market of the unknown player... Anyone who claimed they knew Byran Gil hats off to you... football director or not... Levy is tighter than a fat bloke in skinny jeans.

Hmmm who knows if the 150k pw is true but if it is then yes it's very steep

But we are a much much bigger draw than Villa obvs and £25m is a steal really so I wonder what it would have taken to get the deal done. A substantially bigger signing on fee and maybe 120k pw ? 30k pw over 4 years is 'only' 6.2m total

As almost everybody has said this was a potential solution to the Kane issue and / or an incredible squad addition and I think we'll regret it

The only thing that gets me with that is the defensive stats. I don’t think grealish is such a good defender that he stops half a goal game himself.

Sounds like the entire team was playing poor for a solid stretch.

Fair play to Villa, they got on with this deal and have a good player. But if the rumoured wages are true, then yeah probably a good thing we didn't get involved.

Guess we need to find another striker now, ruined all of our lineup predictions in the new thread!!

Since FP arrived nearly every player we’ve been seriously linked to is a rising talent between 20-24 years old. That’s not a coincidence, it’s a plan for a rebuild and a new project. Ings never felt like a priority for us and as long as we actually do bring in a proper striker, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.

He's the captain, so it'll have a bigger effect potentially on the rest of the team.

Also the fouls he draws no doubt break the play up and prevent counter attacks

he's 29 and has 55 prem goals.
Scored almost 1 in 2 for southampton over the past 3 years, though, which is about as good as anyone in the league except Kane, while playing for an extremely inconsistent Saints team. He really has been a very good player over that period.

He only had one proper season in the league prior to that as he was perennially injured when he was at Liverpool.

Why we never just signed Ings is completely baffling to me!! Short term answer sorted. And possibly 2/3 year term. Prem ready.

Maybe Paratici has some better options in mind? Son is a way better short term option, so maybe we are looking for a mid/long term option?
