Because people like to justify nonsense mate. Could have just gave him a signing on bonus if we were that worried. Pay Ndombele 200k a week mind to do fuck all.

He would have been more than ideal and at a massively knocked down price for a player of his caliber.

Villa have every chance of finishing above us if Kane walks next week.
It’s not nonsense. If Kane stays he plays. As does Son and one of Lucas/Berg. You don’t pay a guy £150k/week to be backup.

Kane can’t “walk” next week.

It’s like reading a different reality sometimes.

Ndombele is a stupid fucking example. Because at the time we signed him, the world thought we’d smashed it.

And that there is the problem. fucking Cheap arse wages. He’s a defo 15 goals a season
People want us to pay huge salaries to buy players then wonder why we struggle to sell them.

I like Ings as a player. But a 4 year deal on 150k a week is too much. People talked about him being a short term option, but we'd be stuck with him for the full four years on that salary.

Also Ndombele is considerably younger. If he'd performed to the level we'd hoped for then we'd have either had an excellent player for a long time or been able to sell.

There's no selling Ings on that salary.

I do often wonder how you and certain others get through a day of life sometimes. You're so negative all the time. Cheer the fuck up. Its only football.

This short term view in football is really annoying, two goals in two games doesn't necessarily equate to success over the entire season, remember Teemu Pukki. Ings has had one season with more than 15 goals in the Premiership and he is 29. 150k/week for his injury record and age is absurd, we can do much better.

Agreed, plus in my opinion we need to invest in younger strikers/forwards as Kane, Son and Lucas are all in their late 20s.

I think the approach we are doing in this TW is getting in signings for the long term, thats why most of our reported targets are aged 25years or younger.

True and in general it's the right way to go.

One or two Prem ready players might not be a bad idea but the last thing we want is a stopgap signing on a long contract with a high salary.

2 goals in 2 games. Knows the league. Proven goalscorer. Went to Villa for 25m which I'm guessing we could have afforded. Just saying...

Agree. I’ve heard the excuse it was the wages. Well, we sold Lamela, let rose go, ended Bale’s loan. There’s more than enough wages there. He ticked every box. I think it was a big mistake not to go for him.

But he also signed a 4 year contract. Do we not want to move away from having an ageing squad with players we can't sell because their salaries are too high?

I didn’t realise it was that long. He’s worth it for a few seasons though. Guarantees goals and can play on his own, in a two and in a three in attack. He would have just solved us a problem for a while.

Strikers are the most expensive players because they are usually the match winners. We can see over the last ten years though we rarely like to buy them because of that cost. It was weird because before then we had 3/4 in the squad, even back to the Armstrong/Ferdinand/rebrov/iversen days. Obviously I’m not advocating the drop off in quality to them! ?

I definitely agree with your general points.

Two year contract would have been great. But four years meant more feadw

What's a different reality is Tottenham's actions to their ambitions.

Champagne tastes orange juice pockets yet again. Take some punt on some rubbish alternative every year hoping to strike gold.

Its the same every season. Fed up of it. If you want good players you have to pay them the money, end of.

Kane could easily go for 150 mil next week to city. It wouldn't be a shock would it.

What then?

Yet everyone is praising Leicester for how well run they are, identifying youth in other European leagues. We signed one of the best young defenders in Europe. Like it or not, we cannot address all the issues of the squad in the same way, only three clubs in England can do that. I am all for signing proven players in some important positions but I like when we create our own stars in positions with less urgent needs.

Leicester aren't claiming to be some 'Super League' elite club that simply have to be in the champions league while charging some of the highest ticket prices in the league to their fans though are they.

City should have signed Ings instead of Grealish and this Kane pursuit. Not as high a profile but far cheaper and easier to sign, and for what they actually need he's perfect.

? I give up. As long as your happy with everything mate ??.
Got 9 days left mate. All I’m asking is to react after. I don’t know what your expectations were of an international tournament summer plus clusterfuck of management appointment process, especially when the message was clear that the market was frosty and was going to be frosty until the last week of the window.
