Two seasons after his departure from Tottenham Hotspur was confirmed, Danny Rose was wearing the infamous white jersey of the north Londoners - as part of the Under 21s team.

Fair play to him.
Would've been easy to just hang up his boots, must be worth a good few mill now.

You'd expect a journalist to know the meaning of a fairly common word. Then again, writing for the Star doesn't qualify as journalism I suppose.

What ever happened to testimonials. Not asking Rose in particular but would love one for the likes of Vertonghen, Dembele and Alderweireld. Maybe a joint one with players of that time somewhere down the line.

You had to play for a club for ten years to get one. The player got to keep the gate receipts for the game at a time when football salaries wouldn't set them up for life (and the games were usually competitive!), and later this tended to be given to a charity of their choice (as the games became more like soccer aid). Now you mention it Hugo is due one this summer

We used to have 42 league games, cup replays, regular postponed games and home internationals and still had time for testimonials. Yet there just isn't room for them today.

What to raise money for them in their retirement?I think they'll be ok.

That's what testimonials were always about.

They were really important when a decent professional player earned about the same as a Bank Manager but had to retire in their early 30s.

Was that the case for King? I thought he earned good money but a testimonial was a good way to celebrate a long standing player. I remember that game being a good mix of players from over his time with the club. Would love us to do it for Lloris with a number of the players from the last 10 years.

Loved the man.

Great servant to the club and scored one of the best goals that i ever witnessed in any game.

His commitment to the cause was always one hundred percent.
