Is it possible that he has an app on his phone to measure his cardio stats?

No no no. It's Danny Rose, we don't think he's a very good left-back, therefore everything he does is shite and we can conclusively deduce that he's catching up with his Angry Birds' status while he waits for a tweet about sausages.

I personally feel Danny Rose is becoming a bit of a scapegoat. No he shouldn't be first choice and yes I do want a shiny new left back. But I do feel many fans vilification of him is unjustified. He's still learning the position having played as a winger most of his career. Also having got injured and then having Eriksen (who I love) in front of him, meant he was getting doubled up continously, now even the best players in the world can't mark two people.

If you look at most of our goals coming from the left it was because Rose had the RB and winger to contend with, due in most part to Eriksen not tracking back. I blame neither Rose or Eriksen for this. All the blame goes to nice but dim on that one.

Rose has many faults, distribution, crossing and positional play but he is the current U21 England left back and will only improve with good quality coaching, shipping him out then means we need two left backs a starter and a youth for back up. Why pay for two when we already have the second covered.

Finally (thank god you think after this long and convoluted rant/essay). He may make noises about wanting first team etc, with the cups, Europa and injuries he will play games and I would want our players aiming to start every game at least it shows hunger.

I'm sure my reps will get battered but hopefully you'll see a thought out and balanced argument that Rose is not the complete dog that some say, nor is he our first choice option but a player who can/may/will improve

The End
I don't want to neg rep you mate, and won't, but I cannot agree with any of that. I very rarely criticise our players to this kind of extent (although friedel pushed me close when keeping Lloris out of the team), I feel all of last years signings will come good cos I do like to find the positives in people and have seen enough from these guys that makes me believe they will make it. I really can't say the same for rose, and since attitude seems to be one of the major problems there isn't the ability there to compensate for this flaw IMO.

Look at my old posts from start of last season, have a friend who knows Danny personally and when we were looking at potential LB's I said Danny was going to be starting.

Anyway from what ive heard, he wants to be starting most of the games as he believes he can easily go to a lower team and play every game, Poch is looking at all players during pre season to see where changes need to be made. A loan option again isn't something that Danny wants to do as he wants to cement a place.

Danny wants a lot of things, that is part of the problem. I'm sure he would play every game for a lower team, just championship or below!

The situation regarding Rose is a simple one ...

Q1 - Is he currently good enough to be a 1st choice starting LB for Spurs?

A - No.

Q2 - Is he prepared to be a back-up LB and develop his skills so that one day he may be good enough to be a 1st choice LB for Spurs?

A - No.

Therefore what his potential is is irrelevant. The solution is simple - adios Danny boy.

A straight question because I may well have missed it, but do we know this is the case?

Yes. He has said so on several occasions that he wants 1st team football and isn't prepared to just be a squad player.
So people say, the only quote I've seen from him was about not wanting to come back and sit on the bench after the Sunderland loan. Lets be honest he'd get called a lazy money grabber if he was content to sit on the bench

I'm not criticising Danny Rose for wanting to be a 1st teamer. He's ambitious and there's nothing wrong with that. Let him go to a team that is happy to have Rose as their 1st choice LB because I think it's fairly obvious that team isn't Spurs.

Tbh though apart from it being an sc fact, there's no more evidence to suggest he'll kick off than there is that he'll rise to the challenge of competition

Don't know if these have been posted, but this is what we have to go on, from the horses mouth last summer:

"I enjoyed every minute of it and now I've experienced it, coming here and sitting on the bench is not something I'd be looking to do.

"I love this club, but if I don't play regularly then I'm not going to be happy, just like everyone else wouldn't be happy.

"I wouldn't be going on loan again. If I wasn't playing then a loan's not an option for me now. I want to get settled somewhere, playing week in week out."

I see no issue with that, I see no threats or demands and I wouldn't want him to be happy being on the bench. It's up to him to earn and keep his place now

On the contrary Danny, if you're not playing regularly a hell of a lot of people will be happy.

Can't believe I see people sticking up for the guy after the inept season he had. I really can't bare another season watching the guy stroll back from the opposition half while they are attacking down his side, it really makes me sick. Is it a coincidence that most teams focused their attacks down that side last season? Ok granted he didn't get much protection, neither did benny before him or whipey lee before him, they coped by not being caught out of position and actually got their asses back when needed. Unbelievably lazy player, and from reading some of his quotes from last summer effectively demanding a first team place is just as sickening. Any money we get will be a bonus.

he wont last long doing that with Poch

Couldn't even do that when he was at Bristol City. Had a miserable attitude, played his way out of the team, and left the City fans happy to wave goodbye to someone they considered to be a lazy, arrogant prima donna.

Give it a couple more weeks and people will be saying give him a 2nd chance ... yet it doesn't change the glaringly obvious fact that he's a crock of sh*t and nowhere near good enough to be playing at the highest level.

We've literally no chance of finishing in the top 5 with the current squad and keeping this numpty will make it even harder.

Can they take Naughton & Lennon too?

We'll do well to fill our HG quota next season

For this reason alone, both of them are worth keeping, and considering one of them is Naughton, i'm as surprised to see me typing it as you are.

Average, average, average, then called on to do a job and shows admirable composure. I could've ignored that as the "one good game" thing, even more so when his next outing he cost us two goals with some unbelievably careless defending but, instead of just taking the abuse, he came back out second half and performed like a champion. He worked hard to make up for the mistakes he'd made and, that day, he changed my opinion of him.

He has a great attitude; he came along as a makeweight in the Walker deal, for crying out loud - he was the free toy with the box of Special K, yet he's not whined about it or expected anything that he isn't willing to earn. I like that, a lot, and have come to the conclusion that Naughton may well be a late developer. Perhaps it was because of the profile forced upon him the way he arrived at our doorstep that he's been very average, but i don't think it's the right time to let Naughton go when we are thin in that department and he's showing promise, albeit at a later age than the modern game demands.
