I appreciate not many would want Danny to be our starting LB next season but what is interesting is if people would keep him as a backup to a new LB. He's homegrown after all and with the right coaching could he be adequate for cover? Or would Fryers be better?

I selected to sell because even though he would be a capable back up he would kick up a stink if he had any extended period on the sidelines.

Possibly yes, but you'd think he'd feature in the Europa League and CoC.

Didn't he give it large in the press earlier in the year about being first choice or leaving?, would rather have fryers as backup and either Benny back or a new lb as rose is a liability

We should keep him most definitely but we also need another option competition at lb.

I see Fryers as a CB

I voted keep him as he's English young and fast, 3 attributes that make me somehow forget how bad a player really is..

Back up for now. Tho he's said that's not enough for him so we may not have a choice

As already mentioned, he will not stay if not first choice, so I think we should get rid once we have a better replacement.

I don't think he has improved, he's not 21 anymore, he is very injury prone, and his general demeanour suggests his attitude might not be the best, but I could be wrong on this last point.

We shouldn't be held to random for a player as bang average as him though.

Yeah if we want him as sub it's tough, at least for one season up to him to prove the manager wrong. I'm not fussed if the backup is him or fryers though

He's a mouthy little prick & I don't like his attitude & I don't like his face. Haven't disliked a Spurs player this much since Alan Hutton

Edit: oh, & perhaps more importantly he's a bit shit

Edit 2: it's now 2017 & I've revised my opinion

In an ideal world he wouldn't be a sub, he'd raise his game at the kick up the arse and we'd alternate. No player worth his salt should be fearful of competition

Good players want to be with other good players, and ambition needs to thrive

Unfortunately, I genuinely think that we won't sign a Left Back this summer.

I would sell him and then bring in 2 left backs in the summer. One specialist and another who is more versatile. For example Rodriguez and Blind. Homegrown spots can be filled by players such as Pritchard, Kane, Fryers, Carroll etc

Nope.

His attitude stinks, he isn't versatile, and i'd genuinely rather have Naughton as back up LB/RB. He'd be a waste of a spot on the bench IMO

I voted to get rid of him. I wouldn't mind him as a backup, but he thinks far too much of himself to be a squad player. You can clearly see by his body language and attitude on the pitch that he thinks he's the real deal. He thinks he's made it and is too good to be anything other than a first teamer. At a team like Sunderland, fighting in the lower half of the table, sure. Not for us.

As a winger he wasn't good enough, so Redknapp shoved him into left back. I think he's even worse there. He'll make bursts forwards but he has no work rate in wanting to track back, and his positional sense is woeful. Simply put he went through his entire youth career never having to develop defensive abilities, and that's why he hasn't got them. Naughton clearly can't play left back, the side doesn't work for him, but he's a better right back than Rose is a left back.

I'd rather give Fryers more time to develop there. Sadly, I don't think we'll be bringing in a new left back this summer. I don't know what our priorities will be, in all honesty, but I've got a feeling we'll end up sticking with Rose.
