i cant really find too much wrong with what he has said but I would expect him to express it privately to Poch and Levy and not the world at large. Bad show in that sense. But he is saying what we are all thinking.

We'd be utter fools to agree to that. We should not be selling him this summer. No way.

Depends though - Poch could easily decide Rose needs to go because he has been an utter fartknocker. If we sell him and get a ton of money for him to be honest I don't even care now.

Gary Neville is bang on the money. There are ways of doing things that someone in the position of Danny Rose should be doing. He is the best left back in the league, Englands first choice left back, and he owes all of that to both Pochettino and Tottenham. To come out with this, even if many agree with it, is wrong. Air your views in private with Poch and discuss them like a professional, don't be a d*ck and go to the papers.

I have lost a lot respect for Rose here.
I think that's the biggest thing. It's about respect. I'm really disappointed in him for doing this. And it's gonna cause issues with management and fellow players I'm sure. There's a chance that it's not all as sinister as it appears, but even if that's the case it causes problems. Will be interesting to see how Pochettino addresses this in his presser today or tomorrow, and what we get from Rose through the OS or other of the coming days.

I don't blame Danny Rose for thinking any of those things. I'm sure a lot of players want to see some ambition, a bigger contract and some world class signings.

However going public with it is naughty.

Tbf it does go on to say only if we're prepared to sell him. He hasn't asked to leave either so this is a non story.

Yeah it is. Just Sky doing their usual Sources bullshit...which is just last nights article. A distraction we don't need, though.

THIS.

If you read the FULL interview on the Sun website then he says nice things about loving spurs and his teammates. Everything he said is on the money, the issue is that he shouldn't have really said it out in the media and certainly not now.

But that would send out a terrible signal to the other players: kick up a fuss and you'll be sold. All they'll need to do is start whinging to the press and they'll get their move. We have to make a stand.

Surely isn't it much more likely that Poch leaves with him, Poch's position is being made untenable as he is not being given the tools he needs to do his job.
Very strong statement. Using untenable in your statement gives it a totally different meaning.

To add to the respect thing, he's talked about Pochettino as a bit of a father figure, and now this. That's gonna cut deep. This is either on the back of very poor advice, or incredibly stupid.

Completely depends on where you place the value in the team. Is the individual the biggest component, or is it the collective? We're trying to create a winning mentality, bending to players who play up in public or private is not going to help that. Ultimately if this is as bad as it comes across, I think the only sensible thing we can do is sell him, either this window or next summer. The message it sends to bend to his will is worse than selling him.

The club is bigger than any player.

I'd be tempted if Utd could be coaxed into parting with Shaw and Martial at the very least, maybe even extra cash or Fosu-Mensah. Would give us an instant replacement at LB who knows the demands of Poch and his systems, look how Wanyama settled so quickly, plus would also give us that pacy forward we've been looking for. I'd be disappointed to lose both previous first choice full backs, and it would grate a bit that we'd been leveraged into selling a little bit, but coming out of it with significantly better depth and balance would help significantly.

For those that may question Shaw's fitness after injury, do we know Danny Rose will make a full recovery after so long out?

I think you're missing the point, its not that he said that its that Sky are saying that. That's the problem with saying anything to the media, they'll spin it any which way.

In as much Rose was spot-on with most of what he has mentioned. He has just displayed his lack of professionalism and he will be gone.probably not this season but he won't be our lb in the new stadium.

Well that depends on how you look at it - personally I'm happy to sell any player that doesnt want to be at the club and especially those prepared to run to the press and put the club in an awkward situation as a result. If the message to other players is 'you act like this you are gone or if you dont want to be here you are gone' that's fine by me.

Only a handful of years ago, so many of our fans slated him, now a few years on we all expect him to be loyal to the club?

I can't blame Rose for what he has said as a lot of it is true. He lives far from his home and gets paid a minimal amount compared to footballers worse than him who play elsewhere.

Although I can and will say that this is unfair to Pochettino going into the new season, who has made him the player he is.
Some valid points but don't go to the press - keep it in-house.

'Minimal' - hardly. He needs some perspective. He's paid in the top 5% of players in the world and gets somewhere between £1.5 and £2 million into his bank account each year after tax etc. He has a 5 year contract so that's £7.5-£10 million. That will set him up for life quite easily.

If it hadn't been for his current manager he would be earning less and playing for a mid table team. No coincidence that the careers/form of Shaw, Chambers, Lovren and others has deteriorated after moving on from Poch.

I've slept on it... and woke up with a thought.

He keeps talking about the future at the club.

"We want to win the league at Wembley",
"I’d love to see more signings. It would lift me seeing a top player come through the door."

It's weird, really weird, he slags off everyone but talks about what he'd like to do at the club. I just don't get, I don't he's fallen out of love with the club and wants to stay, for this season at least. I'm not really sure what the point of this interview was. Unless The Sun paid him shitloads to do it.
Let's not kid ourselves that this is a call to arms or telling the chairman to pull his finger out. This is shit smearing disguised as passion. This is a let me out shout.

He knows full well that what was said will alienate the fans and other players and staff and all a few days before our first meaningful game for maximum impact.

No way we should oblige him by giving him what he wants, but also no way we should let his poison remain around the dressing room.

Apologies if this has already been thrown out there, but hasn't Poch said much the same himself to the press in recent weeks? Okay, perhaps he used more diplomatic language. But, I'd reason it doesn't take a genius to figure out that there is currently a stand off of sorts between the football men and the money men. Is it beyond our imagination that Danny Rose has been 'encouraged' to voice his concerns to the biggest tabloid daily in Britain a few days before the start of the season?

Selling him is the most idiotic thing the club could do in reaction to this.
seriously this is the only outcome imo.

MP has spent 2/3 seasons creating an excellent team spirit, a harmonious squad where everyone gets on with each other.
Then 1 goes and does an interview with a 2bit tabloid saying what he said.

I reckon MP and DL will be furious this morning.
This is quite clearly a transfer request via the tabloids.

It is one player, a player that has not played for us since January.
