Some of the responses here are pathetic. Still the same idiots claiming the guy's shite, when his record pre-spurs, at Spurs and currently post-Spurs proves otherwise.

He didn't suit the way we play, and we didn't suit the way he plays, so it's not a bad thing we sold him. But even given this his record at Spurs was decent.

So get off your high-horse, stop being a bunch of twats and admit you're wrong when you claim(ed) he's shite, and just admit the truth, he's a good player who didn't fit in to the style of play here.

FWIW he's a far better finisher than Defoe.

he scores for fun, but there's a reason why the top 4 didnt even lift an eye brow when charlton sold him, and then again when we did.

Top 4 were never interested in Defoe when we first signed him, or when we sold him, or when we re-signed him.

So why doesnsn't he get slaughtered by Spurs fans all the time?

Bent has always been a good goal scorer, he just needed a run in the team and a manager to show some faith. Also at Sunderland there is alot less pressure than playing for us.

Well done to him, he is doing well, I have no ill-feelings nor do I want him back because we have 4 fantastic forwards

I just had to post this thread - when he was with us I was one of his worst critics - since moving to our 'B' team he has done the business. Full of confidence, scoring for fun (bettering Mrs Redknapps average).

Good luck to him I say though not so much against us

Hmm I think there was a topic in general football but I may be wrong.

Yes he is doing well hes always been a good striker but just needed the manager's belief in him. ALso I think the price tag did weigh on him

Again?

Again with this shit?

He's a really good goalscorer. The reason he's better for Sunderland is because they don't play the passing game as much as us, he get's to play every game, his manager backs him 120%, he's got a good partner up front and the team plays more to his strenghts.

It's not like we've been missing him.

Never wanted us to sign him, but I supported him while he was with us. I wish him the best of luck in his career but I hope he never scores against us or plays for England.

I'll say the same thing every time a new thread comes up. The words may change, the sentiments will be the same though.

Merged as there's so many Bent threads. Easier to keep them in one place.

At the end of the day, we are third in the league, Sunderland are not. When they are above us and stay above, I might start to worry.

This/these threads are like a broken pencil!!

In my view anyone who scores against the gooners is a good player at the peak of their game. It doesn't mean that I'd want them at spurs though.

Bent scores goals where ever he goes but there is no point in resigning him. We've moved on and he's moved on. He's the main man at Sunderland and doing well.
