I noticed The Sun have now changed their tune as to how much he was over the limit and now say he was only one and a half times over the limit. Which is what, 3/4 pints?

1 large glass of wine pretty much (1 small glass is a unit, which is the limit)

Can we sack him and sue him for our money back?
For wasting his talent and destroying our investment on purpose - a bit like the Mutu case?
It might be the best option for us.
Any legal whizz kids out there that would know?

The limit's about 4 units, 2 non-premium pints of beer, which equates to 2 standard glasses of wine(2 units per glass). A large glass of wine is just over 3 units.

So rather than drink being the cause, it's likely he was just driving like a twat?

Not that it's really much better, but he wasn't massively over the limit as first thought, you wouldn't think enough for him to be swerving all over the place etc?

I know perception etc is all effected by drinks, so sounds to me like he probably took a corner too fast or something and didn't react in time.

The official statement looks like it was written by someone else to me. I can picture DB being told to just sign it!

Modern 911s don't swap ends mid-corner like the old ones did if you panic and hit the brake (and having been a terrified passenger when a mate did just that in his many years ago I know of what I speak) but I'd imagine they're still a handful if you're thrashing them and your judgement is just slightly impaired.

But really, idiot has one too many, overcooks bend, stuffs flash motor into a lamp-post and gets busted. Big deal.

The 4's are rock solid, the 2's still like a rear end slide pushed to hard into the wrong bend.

I have a 2 and they're great fun to drive and a real drivers car, however they're most definitely not for driving when you've been drinking.

Such a shame that he can't be arsed to be a footballer anymore and wants to be a rock star.

The goal versus the Scum meant he could have gone on to be a legend here. He just doesn't want it enough.

Spurs fan my arse.

"He's very lucky that no-one was injured, so he's got off quite lightly," said Redknapp.
"David Bentley is a good lad, a smashing lad. He's made a mistake. I spoke to him this morning and he realises he's made a mistake.
"He's still here and available and has trained well. He's really low about what he has done."
Hertfordshire Police confirmed on Thursday Bentley had been charged with a drink driving offence and released on bail to return to St Albans Magistrates' Court on August 28.
In a statement on the Spurs website Bentley wrote: "I should like to apologise to my club and the supporters for my actions which led to my car accident last night and my subsequent charge.
"It was wholly unacceptable and I fully appreciate that as a professional footballer I have a duty to behave in a reputable and responsible manner.
"I am thankful that nobody was injured in the accident. This has been a wake-up call for me both personally and professionally."

Good to hear.

I hope that he comes on against Liverpool, scores a belter, and gets cheered by the crowd. Here is a player who's mentality, for whatever reason, has gone completely awry. That won't be changed by his confidence getting further hammered, so I want him to turn it around. That doesn't mean I want it to be at anybodies expense, nobody loves Lennon more than I do, but if Benltey can find a role at our club and contribute positively and turn his career around, even after all the criticism I've given him before he even signed, I will delighted and I'll take my humble pie with a nice pint to wash it down.

But I won't drive afterwards

Let's just hope it really is a wake up call, and he puts all his efforts into being a great player from now on.

Its not that he doesn't want it enough it is because of 2 reasons imo: 1) he has hit his comfort level and 2) he is near his friends. He failed at Arse and everywhere else and was an amazing success at Blackburn - I wonder why?

Maybe because he was away from the lads - well a few hundred miles away - and he wasn't going out drinking every other night or hanging out or w/e. He was up north, sleeping, playing football and then going back to his house.

He comes back down here, signs the biggest contract ever, all his friends are yids so his ego is getting an even bigger massage and guess what he can now piss around with the lads now he is back down sarth and be a spice boy.

Really what do you guys think is going to happen with Bentley? Do you think the club will support him or do you think they will just try to get rid of him?

they will most likely be looking to get rid of him, but whilst hes at the club, hes our player so we have to support him whilst hes here. King after his drinking and punch up was looked after. I know this is more serious but it both derives from the drink. Only time will tell what will happen. Im hoping he can stay and play like he did. He was a good player and his crosses would be good with crouchie..
