Not that long ago the guy was declining to turn out for the England U21's so that he could concentrate onhis full international career, for which his move to Spurs was seen as a progression along that path.

One 40 yard stunner aside at the Emirates, he now seems to be a million miles away from a regular starting place.

He was anonymous in the last league game against Fulham (mind you a few of our players were). He needs to step it up in my opinion. Others may disagree, but so far i am quite diappointed with his performances.

Can anyone see him breaking back into the England team?

He didn't play for the U21's because he wanted to rest after a long season. I agree, he hasn't been good enough yet, especially after the standard he set at Blackburn.

Not with the form SWP is in right now and definitely not when Walcott is fit.

He needs to concentrate on his Spurs career, the England call up will be an indication of how successful he is at Spurs.

To be perfectly honest Bentley doesnt deserve to be in the team on the right wing ahead of Lennon.

If Lennon starts it will be on the left. Bentley has to play, one good ball can create a goal.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but hasn't Lennon got more assist play than Bentley?

Lennon for all what people say about his crossing has provided more scoring opportunities from a cross than Bentley.

Current league assists, according to the Telegraph: Jenas 3, Bentley 2, Bent 1, everyone else 0. Which isn't, er, very good at all really.

Think Lennon had a couple in the cups. His crosses for Pavlyuchenko and Campbell spring to mind.

Of all our summer signings Bentley has been the most disappointing this season. He had a big reputation and a big transfer fee but apart from the Arse game he hasn't been very good. He talks a good fight though.

I think thats half his problem, stop talking and get on with playing

Bentley looks a long way from the England squad but I don't see why we should pick out his performances specifically.

I think no-one did particularly well during Ramos' games this season. Since then Bent has found his scoring boots and in general everyone is performing better, with the exception of Gomes, but they all still have a lot to prove.

I am not a Bentley fan to be honest and never have been. He continually tries to beat players who are clearly quicker than him, never gets his head up when in posession of the ball and is nowhere near as consistant with his set pieces as he was considered to be.
Still he is a Spurs player now and I hope that he rams my words back down my throat with a perfectly placed free kick in the top corner and a couple of assists at the weekend.
