£20M over 3 years is £128,205.13 per week. Are you sure we'll pay him that?

Ade we believe is on £100k so do you think we'll pay him more than him? Say we pay him the same, you whack bonuses & a signing on fee on top of that you easily hit that. I was being conservative with that figure.

This is his last contract. He's already likely on way more than that on a contract with time left on his current deal (that contract is currently only paying 20% tax). His agent will be looking for the best deal possible and he'll likely get that money or more elsewhere at the many Russian/Arab backed backed clubs

He also has the second-best goal-per-90-mins ratio of any Barcelona player this season, after Lionel Messi.

He may have competed in 41 games, but that doesn't mean he started them all.

He didn't start them all. His main competition, Pedro & Sanchez, had very poor seasons yet this guy couldn't hold a place down in the team

And yet he still banged the goals in whenever he played. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that his JOB? And the one key thing we've been missing this season?

Tell you what, we'll all sit here and get excited over the mediocre David Villa, you sit and reminisce about the good times when we had Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko.

But Ade WAS on £180K pw @ Man City so your argument fails as no 2 players have same wage circumstances.

Remember, if he wants more than £80K pw then he can go abroad, we won't be dry humped by a 31 yr old injury returnee or his agent.

We DON'T HAVE to have Villa. He isn't oxygen, water, food, or shelter. We would LIKE him but if the deal stinks then no deal.

10 goals in 41 games is banging them in?

but it isnt really 41 games, as the majority of them are only part games.

Thats like saying someone who plays 15 minutes at the end of the game who scores maybe 1 every 6 games is crap compaired to someone who plays 90 mins each game but scores 1 in 2 games!

Is Adam Suter considered trustworthy?

Dubious at best. Anyway, the fee was always likely to be the sticking point in this transfer wasn't it? If Barca want at least 12m and Levy won't go a penny over 10m, something has to give...

Okay let me say this again for you... he has the SECOND BEST goals-per-90-mins ratio for Barcelona AFTER LIONEL MESSI.

He has NOT played 41 FULL games. When he's on the pitch, he tends to get goals at a higher rate than any other Barca player, other than Messi, which is no mean feat for a guy who's 31 and apparently past it, especially when you consider that their entire system is set up to get the ball at Messi's feet.

It's really not difficult, except when you proclaim he has played 41 games when in reality, he hasn't.

It's also his best goal/min ratio in like 5 years, since he was at Valencia. And he played up top there, not on the wing.

Yup and he also has the best goal/min ratio for the national side ever.

But fuck him, the old donkey, let's whack £20m on Carlton Cole.

I just rang Phil Jones and told him some Spurs fans would rather we didn't sign David Villa.

He's just issued this official statement in response:
