No thanks. We should be looking to the future and he's in the past. This isn't 2008 when he was still a top class forward. He's currently not even better than defoe at this point. Either we get in a young striker with loads of potential or we sign someone in his prime, not someone that is past it.

Addressing reporters, Rosell covered Villa’s situation by saying "Until is otherwise the case, David Villa remains a Barca player and our desire is that he will remain so until next year."

OK door closed.:)

The fact is Villa wants to play some football in the next couple of years, and he probably won't get that with Neymar now in town.

Maybe now that Higuain appears set for Arsenal we will have an even better shot at Villa.

I'd personally love to have him.

Also, if he is okay with coming here and playing on the left, that's an even bigger bonus.

Still think we'll end up losing out to someone who pays higher wages and or has CL football to offer

I wouldn't rule that out, either. All we have pretty much heard so far is us and Arsenal, though.

Also, Villa is still totes awesome.

Fantastic pass by Carzola - what Villa did with it was imaginative to set up Mata but feel like he could have done better

Have to say I have no doubt VIlla would still be an outstanding signing for us, but I really think we'd get out bid by a bigger fish with more to offer him- it would be the biggest deal since Klinsmann for my money (surpassing Davids even in terms of stature)

There wasn't a wink of villa to le arse in the Spanish press they all mentioned the English press say they are still for him and they were close in January, same goes for higuain not a wink in the Spanish press either.

I think either player is still weeks away from deciding thier future

He wants to come to the pl and wants to play, so it seems its us or le arse according to English press

Having Villa come on board to be the immediate answer on the left would be incredible. As others have mentioned, it is yet to be seen if he'd be open to a move here if he weren't going to be the "line leader" in the 4-3-3. But, should he be okay with it, if we could bring him on to provide instant goals out wide, along with Bernard who could work in slowly (allowing Villa to get some matches up top as well) that would be the best of both worlds.

It'd give us the proven commodity of Villa but also not put too much pressure on Bernard to come in and perform right off the bat.

Who knows if that's anywhere near reasonable, though.

if you had Ade, Villa, Bale out there as your front 3 it would get pretty fluid (in a good way) anyway

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Ade does like to naturally go out wide as well which would give Villa the openings to get in the box and use his quality runs off the ball.

He does but he lacks the creative ability to create once on the side. He should remain in front of goal and make runs for the likes of Bale, and Villa to connect with him. Still can't believe he had 17 assists or something a couple years ago. But to me his drifting is what hurts us

He had 11 assists I believe. 17 goals. Those assists were a nice Brucey bonus for sure but yeah, he's a finisher. Needs to get back to scoring and being the spearhead up front or fuck off tbh. I hope he does the former.

Get back to scoring and giving the team a focal point up front. That's it. We don't need a Nwankwo Kanu mk II weaving about on the fringes all the time. We don't have a Bergkamp or Henry to go along with that.
