Oh and as a couple of my mates are Liverpool fans I can be excused for maybe hoping they'll get him - imagine this team.

Reina

Arbelola Agger Carragher Dossena

Milner Gerrard Barry Babel

Villa Torres

Could finally ruffle the feathers amongset the current top 4 a bit and make interesting viewing!

Well spending £20million Villa instead of Barry will be better for everyone excluding Valencia.

Why does Raf refuse to give a player the #7 shirt?

And makes sure it's only the Arse who are within our sights. Dont see Villa going to Liverpool, think Barca or Madrid make more sense.

There was an article in a newspaper a few weeks back where he was saying his players weren't mentally up to wearing it due to expectations of living up to previous greats - Keegan, Dalglish, Kewell (ok scratch the last one!).

There was an article about retiring shirt numbers in Spurs chat relating to this too - see if I can dig it up...

villa will go to real madrid and they will become unstoppable. rvn and villa upfront with raul coming from the bench with sneijder, drenthe and robinho supporting them from midfield.

I can't see Rafa playing both Villa and Torres. Villa would be the one to lose out and grow frustrated by being on the bench.

I think he would prefer the Gerrard/Torres partnership especially in Europe or other players that can play more than one position such as Babel, Louis Garcia, Benayoun or Kuyt it gives him more flexibility. He may like Villa as an option but I couldn't see him playing him week in and week out.

I still don't think that team is anywhere near challenging for the title and in fact I'd say that our team wouldn't be far behind.

Reina v Our new keeper - Depends who we get

Their back four v our back four - If Hutton, King, Woody and Bale are fit I don't think I'd pick any of the Liverpool back four ahead of them.

Milner isn't better than Lennon

Barry isn't better than Modric

And Berbs is on a par with Villa and Torres.

They'd probably just have the edge but with a couple of additions we could match that Liverpool 11.

Maybe and Gerarrd is certainly a great option behind the striker, but Rafa has played 442 for a majority of his time at Liverpool. In fact he played it for the majority of this season, but changed to 4231 for the last 10 or so games. I'm not sure how he usually played at Valencia, but in the UEFA Cup final he used Mista and Angulo in a 442. I think the main reason he hasn't always played with 2 strikers is becasue considering the money he's spent, he's not been too clever in the transfer market. Morientes, Bellamy, Crouch and Kuyt I'm sure were all bought with the intention of playing 2 strikers, but just haven't been good enough, so he's looked at different formations. I'd be pretty confident that if he had two of the quality of Torres and Villa, then they'd start most games together.

I know Liverpool will raise some funds by selling Crouch, Riise Pennant etc, but have they now really got the spending power to get Villa who is now a reported 30 mill and also Barry who will cost between 15-20mill (WTF?!). Im not sure they have. I am pretty sure Valencia would have rejected bids before Euro 08, bet they are glad they did now!

Rafa rotates a lot and he makes some rather curious decisions at times and sometimes pretty cautious. The reason why Torres wasn't rotated more last season was because he proved himself indispensable. Rafa likes Kuyt because he can run and run all day even if he doesn't score all that many goals. He likes his strikers to have some kind of extra dimension. I think thats why he got rid of Owen and never chose to get him back.
