Naughton may not be a LB but he sure as fuck isn't a RB either.

As for Daws i'm sure he's a nice bloke etc etc but a leader? Nope! He must have a bloody good agent to have got a contract extension, he hasn't the pace or Ledley like positional awareness to the play the high line, he's of the John Terry get caught out of position last ditch panicky tackle school of defending, AVB recognised it and that he wouldn't work in his system and says he can leave (i'm assuming we had a CB lined up) and he got slated for it.

I agree AVB deserves criticism for not adjusting that back line to suit the personnel but we needed to get in a CB and a LB and someone should carry the fault for that.

I think this is the biggest knee jerk thread so far.

Yeah I mean we had no shots on target today, at home. They had 10 scored 5.

I don't know I'm still confused about today.

Thought maybe it would be timely to look back on league performances achieved during Michael Dawson's Spurs career.

2005-6 5th 34 appearances
2006-7 5th 37 appearances
2007-8 11th 40 appearances
2008-9 8th 15 appearances
2009-10 4th 29 appearances
2010-11 5th 9 appearances
2011-12 4th 7 appearances
2012-13 5th 34 appearances

Clearly he is the root cause of all our problems.

0on should be left back in the fucking changing room, making teas or tidying it or something.

Dawson is a great footballer, a true Yid and fucking top bloke so I don't really like the inverted comma's around footballer but he isn't suited to high line football.

Why the use of inverted commas?

Better than using inverted wingers

@TaoistMonkey

I got an infraction from A&C for calling a donkey a Dawson in the match day thread :-( although I might have called Dawson a donkey but that's just being pedantic.

Dawson is not the fastest, it doesn't mean every facet of his game is shite. If all CBs were fit and able he would not have started today. You keep him around as he is good to have around the place and invaluable against the likes of Stoke.

Naughton, nope, nothing, can't defend him at the moment.

I'd prefer it if he was right back at Sheffield United.

This 'squad players' term is overused and utter bollocks. If you want to be top then all players should be good enough for a first team. Our problem is we've got too many 'squad players'.

That's only possible if you have Man City or Chelsea's wealth. Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd all have 'squad players' that only come in when someone in the starting XI is injured or in need of a rest.

Dawson isn't bad for a 4th choice CB.

Ok, the Dawson haters rot has moved into this thread so why not flip it around and instead of you all just proclaiming he's shit, explain why it's got nothing to do with the formation, the rest of the players sucking, those either side of him in the back line being played out of position or wandering off not putting the effort in defensively - that's four reasons i have to claim he's being let down and could never shine in this setup the way it is to your "he's shite and slow" argument.

I agree, he is slow, but there are a tons of other reasons that are beyond his control that also factor on his performances this season. Stop heaping blame on one player, it's f*cking pathetic and simply wrong when everyone around him is playing like they're drunk and bored.

NONE of our defenders, injury free, would be able to play that position as it stands right now - we simply don't have the personnel to accommodate the formation AVB is wanting to play - why can you not see that?

Mrs Dawson,

You can't polish a turd.

Amused,

If anyone thinks Dawson is good enough for a Champions League team (that's where we all think we should be) then they are seriously deluding themselves. He is a horse. And that's insulting horses.

Played pretty well there a few years ago.

Can you remember his performances? Are you just saying this because we did relatively well. If this is the case then does that mean Alan Hutton is good enough for us? Palacios? Crouch?...

Because he's not been shit under all of our managers, only in this formation with these current players under this current manager.

Even when he wasn't as slow as he is now he was always lacking a brain but bailed out by the player alongside him, first Ledley, then Younes and last season Jan. He has always been a liability.
