Good job he waited until after the YB game i guess?? BBC Radio 5 says he'll now likely be available for the 2 international games in Sept... I wonder if he'll be rested by us in the meantime..?

Weird. You either need an operation or you don't. If you do and you decide not to have it, that's a bit thick.

On the other hand, if that was a bit of mind games, I guess it worked, but see very little point in it!

I believe JD is a little guilty of saying he's 100% when he's not quite 100%. If the medical people say he needs an op it should be done now, as Harry said, not left to drag on.

If it was mind games, it looks like they're trying it again.. Seems like he's available for tomorrow and if he feels no pain after the Wigan game (insinuating he will play) then the op is def canceled...

Look at our new doctor's picture from the official site and judge for yourself:

Mind games? Mind games aimed at Wigan? The only mind game we're aiming at Wigan is that we're taking them seriously.

Quite often you can't make groin injuries worse, it's all about pain management. If Defoe feels he can manage that then he should play on.

Don't think he has cancelled it. As far as I know it is still booked in for Tuesday, but he didn't feel any pain or discomfort against Young Boys, and if he doesn't feel pain in todays game against Wigan, then he will hold off on the op.

Its just dependant on how he feels after todays game.

IF it is a niggly thing that comes and goes, it would be best to have it now because there is the international break PLUS our fixtures in the near future are very winnable even without him. Would rather he missed these games than the ones against the top-half teams.

I reckon he will have the op after the Wigan game, since he is unlikely to start for England. Zamora will start ahead of him for England for the qualifiers with Crouch and Rooney on the bench, Milner and Walcott will play either side of Zamora in a 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 midfield.

WTF? Don't need him for Wigan, the sooner he gets the op, the sooner he gets back... I guess the physio staff knows best, but on the surface this seems a pointless risk
