^ Indeed :

Although he passed a medical on Tuesday, Dejan Lovren is still far from signing for Olympique Lyonnais. While everything seemed on track to be finalized, the club said in the evening he would still have to wait for the player agrees formally with the OL. The reason: increased competition from other European training.

"Currently negotiations are ongoing, said Olivier Blanc, communications director of Lyon, in a statement on the club website. The negotiations are difficult because the OL is not the only European club to be interested in this defender of the future. For the moment nothing is resolved we continue to discuss with his officers. "

i know i thought the same, but guess CL is still a much bigger motivation... and i cant really blame him, apart from that he will regret it next year when we kick OL out of the CL

To be honest whilst obviously Spurs are the greatest team in the world and clearly the right choice for him to make , as a twenty year old Lyon would be the best option for a couple or three years then move onto a bigger club, just don't tell him that.

Tis true, he'd get a good football education at Lyon and then Real Madrid or someone of that ilk will pay mega bucks for him.
