While I love GLC and truly think he’s the better player, can you really not see how Dele makes the bench ahead of four players who have come nowhere near providing the output he has given, even with his average been reduced by his decline?

I’m not saying it’s unarguable to leave him or, it clearly isn’t given that he doesn’t play, but to be blind to why he would make the bench over said players is pretty obtuse when you consider his overall career for us as compared to their.

I don't see why we need 4 of Moura, Son, Bale and Bergwijn in the squad at all times also. Especially with Sissoko involved who can play there if we just need legs.

He had a good game

Some great highlights that show his vision and passing - challenge for him now is that Kane has become the "10".

So who does he get in ahead of?

Ndombele and GLC are challenging for the the "8"...Kane means you don't have to have a pure "9" (striker) but vincius is the clear back up, With Sonny and two of Moura, Bergwijn, Lamela and Bale providing width as part of the front four, it leaves Dele lower down the pecking order

i want him to stay - but it's tough to see where he fits given how Jose wants to play

You don't put a player on the bench for his overall career, you put him on the bench for his current form !

Did I say we should put him on the bench or did i question the notion that Dele making the bench was unforeseeable ahead of...

Winks: written off by the majority of this site as a mediocrity.
Bergwijn: getting a hammering for being slow, tubby, limited.
Lo Celso: a lovely match v City aside, lacking any game time to develop that form.
Lucas: everybody’s go to for the Aaron Lennon award for under appreciation.

I’m not saying Dele should make the bench ahead of those, I’m just saying that to dismiss the possibility as if it was the most bizarre and nonsensical thing our manager could do is, well, a bit daft.

Edit: I would clarify that I don’t think Lo Celso is off form, just passing in match time, I don’t think Bergwijn is either tubby or limited age I certainly don’t underrated Lucas but I do think a lot of people do. I also haven’t written Winks off at sky point, but I think it’s fair to say that there’s a vocal section of posters here who have.

I think its unlikely that Dele will get a bench spot @ Chelsea but far from unthinkable. More likely after a couple more focused Europa performances. But Mou will probably start Sissoko against Chelsea. So if the game is going against us, we're trailing and maybe Ndombele isn't having a great game, the option of bringing on both Dele AND GLC has some attraction.

Winks: written off by the majority of this site as a mediocrity.
Bergwijn: getting a hankering for being slow, tubby, limited.
Lo Celso: a lovely south v City aside, lacking any game time to develop that form.
Lucas: everybody’s go to for the Aaron Lennon award for under appreciation.

No, I’ll resist, as if I give you a response I’ll find it too hard to stop myself calling you an idiot, and I don’t want to do that because I’m too fucking nice.

Thanks for posting this. Didn't watch the game live, but he clearly was very influential in at least 3 or 4 chances including both goals. There is a clear change in tact. He is moving the ball quicker. One touch and pass, and to be fair some very good passes at that. Looking like he is being heavily worked on, to change him as a player.

I think a lot of people forget that when Dele first arrived he was the regular starter in the left forward role with Sonny regularly coming off the bench. Sonny has now made himself undropable in that role. It's hard to get the pair of them on the pitch together, particularly if you don't want to lose midfield stability. Dele is now competing mainly with GLC, who for my money is the better player and plays more for the team collective than Dele does.

There’s a video doing the rounds on social media of sonny hugging him and cheering him up before ludogrets.

I really do think there is more to this dele thing at the moment there is struggles there hopefully he has an igniting moment soon and we get the dele we love back!

it may be tomorrow dele is just the type to bring off the bench and he will create a moment of magic out of nowhere and that could be all it takes to get him back to being dele

this is actually kinda sad to see, looks like he’s kinda low which is understandable for a player not getting regular match time. Who knows what’s going on, you wouldn’t wanna see a friend or family member act like this.

Can’t see Jose playing him as he has criticised him so much. It’s different with Ndombele as he was not fitting in before JM came and so he can claim being the key to getting our most expensive purchase playing. Dele on the other hand has hit great heights in the past and Jose has no kudos to gain here
