I don't think it's a totally ridiculous take at all to say that he has had good games and bad games this season, and also that when he has bad games he gets piled on more than most other players would do. There may be good reasons for this based on him not seeming to take his football too seriously for a bit and playing Fortnite, and problems with his game or whatever. However, I am not sure that holding up what happened under Mourinho is the best one, as there was no coherent attacking system under him, as apparently Mourinho didn't believe in training attacking patterns of play, and he also barely played at all last year. I thought when he did get a few games under Mason last season he was actually one of our better players.Yeah totally it's a ridiculous take. Despite not performing for over 3 seasons now, he has been given loads of chances under multiple managers. It took Poch ages to work it out and drop him, towards the end of his reign Alli became a bench warmer. Then Jose came in, played him, Alli played well for 6 games then reverted to type again and was awful. Jose dropped him totally and rightfully. Nuno comes in, for some reason picks Alli, he got himself fit but the rest of his game was typically awful, seems Nuno has clocked on now and dropped him. There is no way abck for him, picking Alli will literally cost the manager his job, because it weakens us so badly.
He has been given plenty of chances over many seasons. 'When he has a bad game' makes it sound like he's normally good and a bad game is a rarity.
Some people really need to accept he isn't the player they thought he was going to be.
He should be top of the list of players to move on, along with Sanchez, Doherty etc
I didn't say anything about a bad game being a rarity for him, but did lay out that overall this season he hasn't been all bad, and he has possibly had more good games than bad games. I was just trying to point out that when he does have a bad game he seems to get piled on perhaps disproportionately to how he has been over the course of the season. I don't think that's a totally ridiculous take.
I really hope he improves and comes good, even if it's as a squad player, but I can fully accept he has plenty of faults, and it might not happen for him.
