Yeah totally it's a ridiculous take. Despite not performing for over 3 seasons now, he has been given loads of chances under multiple managers. It took Poch ages to work it out and drop him, towards the end of his reign Alli became a bench warmer. Then Jose came in, played him, Alli played well for 6 games then reverted to type again and was awful. Jose dropped him totally and rightfully. Nuno comes in, for some reason picks Alli, he got himself fit but the rest of his game was typically awful, seems Nuno has clocked on now and dropped him. There is no way abck for him, picking Alli will literally cost the manager his job, because it weakens us so badly.

He has been given plenty of chances over many seasons. 'When he has a bad game' makes it sound like he's normally good and a bad game is a rarity.

Some people really need to accept he isn't the player they thought he was going to be.

He should be top of the list of players to move on, along with Sanchez, Doherty etc
I don't think it's a totally ridiculous take at all to say that he has had good games and bad games this season, and also that when he has bad games he gets piled on more than most other players would do. There may be good reasons for this based on him not seeming to take his football too seriously for a bit and playing Fortnite, and problems with his game or whatever. However, I am not sure that holding up what happened under Mourinho is the best one, as there was no coherent attacking system under him, as apparently Mourinho didn't believe in training attacking patterns of play, and he also barely played at all last year. I thought when he did get a few games under Mason last season he was actually one of our better players.

I didn't say anything about a bad game being a rarity for him, but did lay out that overall this season he hasn't been all bad, and he has possibly had more good games than bad games. I was just trying to point out that when he does have a bad game he seems to get piled on perhaps disproportionately to how he has been over the course of the season. I don't think that's a totally ridiculous take.

I really hope he improves and comes good, even if it's as a squad player, but I can fully accept he has plenty of faults, and it might not happen for him.

Ok maybe that was harsh saying it was ridiculous lol.

I think the reason he gets piled on is because people are fed up with the same old faces getting nine lives at Spurs when it is obvious they are no longer at the required standard and it feels like these same players are holding us back.. he is often causing more problems than he solves when he is picked in the side.

I don't even think he is worth keeping as a squad player, I'd rather sell and invest in a prospect.

Completely understand that. Good point. I guess I'm just hoping he can turn it around as I've got such fond memories of his first few seasons for us.

I think it might do him good to go out on loan to a place like Brighton or Brentford and see what Graham Potter or Thomas Franks could do with him. He might see that as being below his level though. I dunno.

Wouldn't get into either of those sides atm.

I’m not sure he would get much game time at Brentford, probably competing with Mbeumo who has been pretty good for them.

When you lack pace. Speed of thought and indecisive then there won't be too many takers.

He hasn't been anywhere close to as bad as thiss thread suggests.
He’s not been great, but the criticisms thrown at him are massively over the top at times.

I do wonder what his role is going forward, I think his natural position is as a forward, a raumdeuter that exploits pockets of space.

There is your problem, sentiments. Football should not be run on sentimentality.

Deli when he joined us was playing in a top Spurs team, where people like Eriksen and Dembele allowed him to do his trick and flicks without us losing momentum in our play. Now when he is called to graft he is exposed. This I have been saying for yunks.

Do you recall that worldly goal he scored against Place? Up to that goal in that game he was crap and people were baying for him to come off. He scores that goal and all his deficiencies are forgotten.

Ali was always over hyped by us and the media, but now the hen has come home to roost

He's a forward player that relies on others to create. Yes he's scored some great goals from outside the box, like against Watford and for England against France, but he stopped trying those at some point. What he needs are others to be manipulating the opposition so he can ghost into space. Remember our 343?? Son couldn't get into it because the front three were Dele, Kane and Eriksen. Now Son is at the top of his game and there isn't room for a Dele Alli.

Dele was great when he was playing in a side that allowed him to do what he did well; exploiting space and scoring goals. Some of those goals he scored were sensational too, not just tap ins, really good finishes that any top tier player would be proud of. He could dribble too and could really ghost past players at times but somewhere along the way he stopped trying these things.

I'd argue it was when Poch went for the diamond. Dele had to change his game and become something he wasn't. During that time he lost what he was and now we've moved on and he can't find a place. I'm gutted because he really was a talent. Yes there were games he didn't show up in and his little flicks became more prevalent and less useful, but I think that was a symptom of a player lost and trying to find something he could do.

He's likely another that might benefit from a change to a back three if given the role he once played. Too bad we don't have anyone close to what Eriksen was in the squad, but rotating with Son would probably be the only place we could get the best from him.

He’s been painfully vanilla for along time now. We’ve had the odd flurry of hundreds and thousands on top, but in the main just a bland flavour only a minority appreciate.

He needs time. He has the materials, he just needs to build a new game. I don't think he'll go back to what he was.

please for yourself anyone who hopes he will come good, just cut your losses, its the hope that kills you, if we want to be a serious club we need to not indulge mediocrity, would city, Liverpool, chelsea etc put up with 3 average at best seasons?
