That was a tough watch, but so insightful.

Dele was so open and Neville handled the interview with such empathy.

Will be cheering Dele on this season.

Talking about childhood molestation, being ‘sent to African’ to learn discipline, etc. no wonder Neville is basically in tears listening. This is genuinely harrowing stuff.

Just shows that too many people (me included) ridicule players and berate there impact/effort without knowing the full story.

It is easy to judge players as spoilt overpaid individuals, which I still agree with to an extent, while forgetting that at the end of the day it is the industry/game that have made them that and all things considered they are still human like you and I.

Loved the honesty from Dele, explains a lot and hope that his recovery continues to take him back to greatness.

good to hear the more humane side of Harry too which if I am honest was a bit of a surprise to me.

I would love to see him in a spurs shirt again in the future.

have a lot of respect for him and his interview. Wish him the very best and am sure he will always get a good reception when he comes home. His contract expired next year, wonder what will happen if he finds form.

Tough watch and the old saying about not judging someone without walking in their shoes couldn’t be more true

Hopefully this is another step to Dele finding more peace & stability

It would be remarkable if he comes back from injury and rediscovers the player that he once was

At his very best I’d not really seen anyone better and there would have been more to come!

Yes, there was a lot building up to that it seems but can't put all blame on Jose. People will, I'm sure.
Agreed. I'm just piecing together the time of when Dele was suffering, not putting blame on Jose

Also fuck the fucking tabloids - right at the start he says he wasn’t ready to give this interview but tabloids have been threatening to leak his rehab story and forced him into doing this when he wasn’t ready.

Wow. Just wow.
How brave of him to do this interview and to be so open, especially as it sounds as if he was basically forced to do it for fear of being ‘outed’ by the tabloids.
I hope he has found or is on the way to finding some sort of happiness, if he can get his football back on track too, that would just be an added bonus.

I've just got to the childhood bit ...

Fucking hell. I think we all knew there was friction with his biological family but this extent is just harrowing. The shit he had to endure from 6 to 12 is heartbreaking.

Good to hear him getting help and speaking up about how and why he's fallen off a cliff in his sporting life. Best of luck to him in the season ahead and beyond. Hopefully the intervention of rehab sets him up now to be as good as he can be again. And Everton will have a hell of player if he can get back to it.

Tough watch. What a guy.

A lot of love for Dele.

As an aside, away from the bravery of Dele and his appalling treatment, can this also be a moment to consider how we treat players,

I'm not talking about measured criticism etc. But booing your own players in their stadium for instance; I can only imagine the consequences of what some of our fans did do Davinson if he had been in a similar situation to Dele for example.

Both organisations are owned by the same scumbag so it’s all a seedy little game

I dropped everything to watch this, Dele is one of my favourite ever players - I loved him at Spurs and I have a real affection for him. I’d like him back at Spurs now, Ange strikes me as the type of manager he’d thrive under as a player and a person.
